Hoop house material other than plastic

Hey everyone,

I have grown indoors for a while, but this is my first time exploring outdoors. I built myself a little 5x5 PVC frame and covered it with a mosquito net to keep out as many bugs as possible.

What I didnt realize is that my plants would grow to be HUGE. Which is awesome right. Except it is June and they won't finish until October and they are already bursting out of the 5x5 space.

So I want to build a hoop house. But I think that if I use plastic I am going to have issues with humidity since in order to keep bugs out it would have to be fully enclosed.

So I want to use something similar to the mosquito net I am using now, but obviously I am not going to be able to find one big enough to fit over a much larger hoop house.

Any ideas on a different material? Preferably some kind of fine netting that will still let sun/air through but not bugs?

Well my first thought is that maybe you shouldn't worry so much about bugs and that will open your options up. You won't necessarily have to deal with any major problems, but there are plenty of products out there if you do encounter some... and a number of bugs are small enough to fit through netting. Mites.. thrips.. whiteflies.. etc.

Floating row cover type fabric. Agribon or typar can be misted to create evaporative cooling effect. Good luck. I'm going in this direction myself.
