Honeymoon in Amsterdam

May 9 2008 will be my wife and I first year anniversary. We were broke as hell when we got married, and still are broke but we'll be coming into $2500. in May of 2008. So we want to go to Amsterdam.
We tried looking at the usual 'sites but it confusing as hell( smoking w'widow all day doesnt help). I can probably come up with another $500, so 3 grand for the whole trip.
Whats good/whats cheap? Looking to do the coffee shop scene and club hopping. Maybe alittle red light district ;).
Where can we stay on a budget thats not a shithole? Lots more questions but just through out what you think is important. Thanks :joint:

Oh, and can a drug sniffing dog detect seeds?

HA! you are in luck. I have spent many days in Holland and Amsterdam. It is an amazing place and i plane on living there one day.

Here is a link to my thread about the great city: http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=65898

I never flew there as i lived about 4 hours away and always drove. My hotel guide should help you alot. Any questions you have PM me and i should be able to help you no problem.

you should book your flight and hotel separately as it can be a lot cheaper than a package deal. then you just need insurance.

Last time I was in Amsterdam, I had no hotel booked. I just looked around, checked out a few places, and winded up staying at a place called "PC Hooft".
Good place, great location I found. The owner was very nice too. Though who knows if it's still as good as it was. I'd say take a look around and see what you come up with once you get there.

The only problem with that is wandering around the cobbled streets with your luggage trying to find somewhee to dump it. i guess if you travel light or not for long then that's a good option. another tip is to find out what hotel you want to stay in and phone them direct, use the middlemen to browse the selection.
