Hi guys I am currently setting up to do a 16 plant scrog in soil in a large room with a entrance door right in the middle so I am going to be installing the scrog net this weekend but thinking ahead I am not going to be able to access the plants at the back to hand water them which I have always done so I am thinking of making my own drip system to make life easier well I have already bought the stuff and it's on the way my plan is to have a submersable pump in my nutrient tank running out a 13mm hose to a tee piece to go to the two banks of 8 plants then off the end of the two 13mm pipes I have bought a 8 outlet manifold going to 4mm dilvery pipes and obviously have one pipe going to each plant and then making my mix every few days stick the pump in and run it till I see it trickling out the bottom of the plants......... Now I'm sorry it's such a mouthful but I know there are some good growers in here and would really appreciate some feedback and advice please thanks baithead

Hi mate, if your in the UK look up a Topspin dripper it has 12 lines with free flow spikes that don't clog, also they are timed at 2l per hour with the o rings and filters inside the unit but if taken out they are free flowing completely and don't clog as much. The problem with making your own system is that water always takes the shortest root so you can suffer with 1 pot getting loads the others not getting as much etc. If you are going to build one make sure all the hoses and spaces between lines are the same distance apart and also test the system by running each line into a jar on a timed run like a minute or second etc, to test that all drippers have even amounts of water in each jar. I find a 1000 lph pump is good for up to 24 drip lines. Good luck.

Hi dank demon firstly thanks for getting back to me withsome info and yes I just looked them up and they do look really good but unfortunately me being me and being inpatient I have gone and orderd all the stuff now so I would like to atleast give it ago building it myself and see if it works and if it doesn't I will buy of them topspiners and yes I am going to make the two main supply lines exactly the same size and then all the 16 supply lines all the same length too so that it is even as possible I normally do a feed every few days so running this system I was is going to be difficult for me as I was hoping to do the same watering resheme empty the whole resivour and just re do it again in a few days but so I am reading up everyone does a watering every few hours. What do you think I should do ? Thanks

I use one of these babies for my watering as it runs on the light timer and drips in the adjustable seconds over the period of lights on. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Nutrimatic-/370930437130?hash=item565d2d4c0a:g:c50AAOSwl8NVWnjc Forgot to say with this timer and 24 drip lines I used 30 litres every 2 days on 12/12 drip time on 5 secs intervals.

Aim for about 20% run off and do a dry run first to check all the drippers have even water levels coming through into jars or cups.

I have used the above manifolds in previous systems with great success so they do work well. Are you running the 2lp drippper stakes? the best ones are the ones that are open over a v on the spike, the ones with the plastic inserts with the channeling like the arrow drippers tend to clog quick. These are an equivalent of the topspin: http://www.progrow.co.uk/acatalog/info_955.html

That looks a good timer but quite pricey tho what medium do you use ? Do you have a tank for your run off I am in Plagron light mix soil which are just sat in trays. And yes I will do a dry run first and make sure they are all even what do you think about making the rings to go around the pot Instead of the drippers as it will spread more evenly thanks

My run off go's out into the gutter to waste. I use danish trays which have a series of channels which takes the water out: http://www.progrow.co.uk/acatalog/info_1533.html

As for the rings then the bigger the holes the better 2mm drill bit stops clogging so less holes per ring but bigger. I even tried halo rings which work well and a porous hose ring: http://www.waterirrigation.co.uk/fa...Soaker Hoses&gclid=CI7F9fr2l8kCFRSeGwodKmkMkQ just by getting a t piece and connecting it to form a circle then attaching to drip line. I now prefer using 3 spikes for a 20 ltr pot and 2 for 11 ltrs.

I use coco biomix as my medium, but take a look at HGOs grow pics as he made some drip rings.

That was my plan to use the 4mm spaghetti tube make a circle with a tee piece to the drip line and drill say 4 holes around it I like the porous hose link you added so does it just come out of the hose body itself ?

I'm just going to try making a ring with the 4mm pipe and drill 2mm holes around it and I'm going to use one of them Danish trays so my plants are not sitting in stagnant water do you think I could just water them till I get my 20% run off then leave it a few days to dry out then feed again as I would if hand watering ?

Yeah that sounds good but you will have to time the drip cycle just right to do the dry period, so that the pots get a nice watering with 20% run off then dry for 2 days or what ever you do and back on again. Why don't you program a 7 day timer to say come on monday for x mins then weds for x mins and so on to dial it in until you have it right but during flower you will need to increase it as they take more.

Yea that sounds a plan I will try that on a 7 day timer and try get it all dialled in nice .... I see you have done a scrog before in your posts and see that you struggled with the stretch I haven't done a scrog in a while now and can't temper the best time to flip to stop the canopy coming up too high what do you recommend

I found in the end the earlier you flick to 12/12 the better, in the end I waited until 70% screen full then flicked and trained 2 weeks into flower using the remaining 30% of the screen. :tiphat:
