Homegrown Medicine Ebb & Flow - Jillybean, Cannatonic, and More

Hi all,

I am a noobie grower looking to grow my own medicine. I use cannabis to help my depression and anxiety.

After a bit of looking around I've decided to pop a couple Jillybean and Cannatonic. I'll also be growing some Blue Widow and Sleekstack x Skunk #1, which were free seeds.

I plan on updating my progress at least once a week and I hope I learn a lot from this experience and from you guys reading.

4x Cannatonic Regular
3x Jillybean Regular
2x Sleekstack x Skunk #1
1x Blue Widow

I'm running a flood table filled with Hydroton. The plants are rooted in 1" rockwool cubes then transferred to pots with silicon rocks to flower. I will be feeding 8ml FloraNova Bloom/gal with some additional CalMag.

Ok small update. I put the 4 Cannatonic seedlings under the hps. The two larger plants are Jillybean. The water wasn't rising high enough so one of them nearly died.

Also, the PH raised for a couple days from the rockwool cubes so there's some slight twisting and I think N was locked out for a bit. However I have the res topped off with fresh solution.


Letting the PH fluctuate between 5.7-6.5. Initially I added 8ml/gal of FloraNova Bloom and 2.5ml/gal of CalMag. Whenever I top off the res now I'll only be adding FNB unless I see any issues.

This turns out to be 1260ppm .7 scale or 1.8ec I believe. The growth so far is pretty explosive, this is going to rock! I'm finding out all kinds of small problems but I'm learning from them.

Looks like I'll be doing some trimming! Things moving along steady FNB 8ml/gal (1260 ppm .7 scale). Still trying to decide if I will add Liquid KoolBloom during flowering. Anyone have any opinions on that?

You can not go wrong with 7 mill pre gal. It will build good structure, down the road powder can fatten and dence em up some.

Thought I'd give a quick update. Plants are into flowering now, they started their cycle on April 5th. Due to a variety of issues I wasn't able to get clones in at the same time so it's a bit like a jungle. Nearly all the plants have identified as female with a few more to show their sex still. I was hoping for a male to be honest I want to try my hand at crossing.

Thanks! Good luck with your grow, I bet your always checkin' on your plants; I know I am constantly. Just try not to over care for them, I've made that mistake more than once.

So I woke up one morning and nearly shit a brick because I heard the sound of my pump...and it sure as hell wasn't supposed to be going!

My face => as I was unzipping the tent...but it seems like all is well!

I topped off the nutrient solution the night before with 1.8ec of FNB solution and .2ec of LKB. So I learned my lesson (heart attack style), don't play with the pump controls while gardening stoned! I ended up flooding the ladies for 10 hours but everything turned out ok.

Heyo! Been a few days since I updated so I thought I'd snap some pics for you guys. I was a little late and wasn't able to get em before the light turned on, my apologies.

Everything is pretty wild and cramped so it's hard to get individual shots of each strain. It will be easier when we get some colas goin, but as you can see they are starting to appear!

I'm feeding with 1.8 ec of FloraNova Bloom (FNB) and I added slightly under 5ml/gal of Liquid KoolBloom (LKB). Turns out this solution is 2.0ec and 5.9ph.

I'm going to flower much earlier next grow, I chose not to this time because I waited for some more clones to root. I'm managing the craziness with a lot of trimming and tying everything down!

glad i spotted your grow today, I've been growing the high thc and the high cbd pheno's of the cannatonic that's feminized from the cali breeder. i trashed the in between pheno's after a couple of rounds. the spanish seeds seem to produce different phenos also i hear. do you see any differences in your cannatonics yet?

I was in Berkeley Patients group and saw some jillybean on the bottom shelf that was priced at 25 an eight and I tried it not expecting much.... but it was my best buzz in a long time, so I picked up a pack along with some other tga flavors.

blue widow is one of the faves in my garden, got mine as a clone.

Hey Chunkypigs, thanks for droppin by. There's some differences between the phenotypes, however forgive me if I use the incorrect term since I'm a newbie. 3/4 of them are sativa leaning, some more than others. One of them seems to be shorter and stockier slightly. According to Resin Seeds when I emailed them, I should be looking for faster finishing plants which will most likely be higher in CBD.

I got JillyBean because it seems like such a happy weed, even though its lower in THC. The leaves just look happy, I think it's going to bring the uppy, happy, content feelings.

I believe two of my Cannatonic have hermied:

I'm looking at the other two Cannatonic plants and neither of them have these little sacs. All I've done to the one plant is some LST and nothing to the other. Does these mean that 2/4 Cannatonic seeds I popped were just bad hermies? All the other plants in my garden seem fine, including the two Jillybean I supercropped.

So.. I'm going to pay close attention I'm not sure if I'm going to rip them out I might just keep on top of sacs ripping them out.

Options? Thoughts?

I never saw anything in early flower with mine, most of the strains I've run throw a few sacs that never open as they ripen in the last week or two. That looks like a real she male you got! I'm talking about a couple tiny sacs sprouting from the bud itself not alone on some random internode. Your garden looks small enough that you might be able to pluck them everyday .... I've never had more than a few seeds in a random bud in my grows but it would suck to have your harvest look like 70's mersh.... Good luck with your choice.

Yeah that's that I think I'll run with for now. If it starts to get out of control I'll take the hermies out but for now I'll pluck it off one by one.

Either way I'm really proud of my garden so far, I've never grown such sexy green plants. 6/10 females ain't bad!

Edit:
Regarding the hermied plants, what should I do with the mother? I don't think the clone hermied from the environment and if it did then I don't want to grow a plant that sensitive anyways. So do you guys think that it's not worth keeping the mother around since I have others to choose from?
