Homebox L - CAN filter/fan, but i need another?

I hear all this stuff about 'negative pressure' and having an actual intake fan. whats that about? The Homebox L has a small rectangular area on the bottom BACK of it that is like a mesh screen, that allows fresh air to come in...question is, with no 'intake' places for a fan, do all i need is the 1 CAN fan or do i need another for intake to keep temps at bay?

You definitely want an intake fan KMK
From the lowest part of your set-up it helps increase air-flow which is not a bad thing!
And best of all it creates a lovely vacuum to stop you getting caught by the Pigs

Well i don't know enough to say listen to me but from what i have read and seen a smaller intake fan used with a larger exhaust creates a vacuum effect (negative pressure)
I believe the inlet fan should be 20-50% lower than your exhaust fan to create this effect.

Shogun: Do you not have any odour escaping from your grow space then?
Well if it does the job and your happy why change it? If it's oversized already you may not need more exhaust.
You should check out the ventilation 101 thread that helped me devise what i wanted in my set up

I really have no other answer than its written everywhere, whether it's true or false i have bought 2 myself 1 bigger than the other, so come monday i will maybe be able to explain a bit more but there's 1000's of people here that can help.

The cold air supply must be serving you well enough IMO. No matter how high tech or low tech your methods or set up, if they work for you in particular then and you achieve what you wanted then it's all good!

It all depends on how much air you are moving. In a Homebox L, a passive intake system is fine. An intake fan is only necessary if you have a relatively large amount of wattage, and need to move alot of air. I don't think you can fit more than 600 watts in a Homebox L.

If you have a powerful enough fan to pull through a filter and still keep your room cool, it is powerful enough to pull air through those flaps on the bottom no problem.

Get a 6" blower. Unless you have a bunch of ducting or the box will be placed somewhere with high ambient temps, then get an 8" blower.

You have the 3x3 one, correct?

I'll be using the CAN fan/filter combo..ya, its a tiny bit bigger than 3x3x6.5

Then you were already on the right track.

Assuming you're using 600w, a Can Fan 6HO (get the high output model, not the regular 6") centrifugal blower with a Can 33 (or similar size) is perfect for that setup.

If you are running 400w instead of 600w, you may want to buy the regular 6" model, or get a speed control.

I generally advise people to avoid 4" blowers, as they are almost as expensive as the 6", and way less powerful. If your fan is undersized, you need to buy a bigger fan; whereas if it's oversized, you only need to buy a speed control. And your fan will either be oversized or undersized, it won't be an exact fit. :2cents:

They are a reliable company, it's a good deal because David (he owns AGS [and a few other businesses]) does enough biz with CF Group that he buys direct, not through a wholesaler. I know him personally, and he is a really great guy as well as a skilled businessman, so I like to see people throwing some business his way.

If you live in the midwest, he also has a few retail stores. They are all called Brew & Grow, and are located in WI and IL if I recall correctly. Btw, I don't work for him or anything, he's a pretty well-known guy in the indoor gardening industry.
