Hello All, how are you doing =) . . . im quite lovely, just received my dayton blower today, and i am in need of a flange. i have lots of cardboard, and many supplies, so i am in need of building a flange, i am going to hang the fan by bungie cords so tehre is no vibration, but i never knew that the exhaust part was a rectangle, which doesnt fit well with my 4" dia. vent tubing. . . so i ask you lovelies, how should i proceed? lots of love and suggestions needed =)

thanks again

ive made a flange and it feels strong sturdy, and im rather pleased, but i do have a problem. i think that my flange will be cutting off too much flow from the exhaust because im making a 6X4 in rectangle into a 4 in diam tube, so my new question is, would it be best if i scrapped the cooling of my hood and instead rigged the dayton to vent all of my air (it was already but i am referring to the fan not being connected to the light itself) 2 ft deep, 4 wide, 8 tall room . .. . some more lovin would be great =)

Well some backpressure is to be expected with those. I use a 265 Blower with the flange on both ends and still recieve ample ventilation for a grow area about the size of yours. (400 watter) You could run it without connecting it to your hood but you'll lose the advantage of placing the light closer to the plants because of the radiant heat. Or step up to a six inch opening for your ducting.

I would say run it with the flange and without to be really sure. Which ever tickles your fancy.

Hey you ever figure out what that plastic was you were asking about?

Blatant

Not wanting to encourage felonies behaviour but plastic road traffic cones can be very handy when a odd size flange is needed. Ive seen the square plastic cone bases stuck over irregular shaped holes using just expanding foam then the cone shaped bit is trimmed to match the duct etc.
