I once sugested that the huge power consuption was from computer servers; I was informed that for large server racks power UPS and physical rack inspections ocur every 6 month s:O and where was the compleated paperwork :O

Umm, you don't have to have server racks inspected... If thats what you were saying, which im not sure, lol. Not in a home environment anyway, I know a house that got a task force visit most of the bill was probably caused by lots o' servers, plus ac to cool them.

If your using a certain amout of power and have racks installed, your supposed to have plans and them inspected by a fire / building inspecter. I knew about this at work as our server . test labs are inspected every 3 months, this applies to small server rooms as well. For even the smallest changes to your house requires a building inspecter to sign off, especially if you own the house and need to sell it later. Slips

Thats bullshit(that its supposed to be) , maybe true, lol but it was never an issue, never inspected, and was never an issue when the house was for sale... It was not a huge number, just a home office with a couple racks and maybe 5-8 computers...

I have a kiln for glassblowing (you said pottery... yep, I'ma smartass). Those little things draw some amperage though. Explains heat (I keep mine at 1050f), explains why you're using so much juice in the middle of the night too. Mine is really quite small, maybe 18x18". It runs on 14amps and heats the basement right up in it's space. Little expensive, but anyway you go you're going to drop some cash.

people have been raided for less man, thatd be awsome when the swat rolls in and trashes your pottery. youd have so much shit on them for the court... probably be set for like[cash wise]....
but really most grows are found via-tips.

Businesses are open to surprise fire inspectors, city bylaw inspectors etc.

Growing at a business address is as STUPID as STUPID gets.

lol - yeah, like that poor single mom with like 8 kids running a clothes dryer all day.

They'd probably try to pop me for makin' pipes though. Oh yeah, then they'd find the "other" room.

No one gets busted for using too much electricity. In most places you need a subpoena to get electric bills. To get a warrant, they'll need more than electric bill. In otherwords, you're going to get busted by a tipster or getting rolled on

Not entirely true.

In some areas, the city is the owner of the electric utility company, and they see it as just another part of the same entity, so the police dept and the utility can share info. Scary stuff.

Cities usually own the water utilities as well, so if your using a swamp cooler keep that in mind that the cops only have to ask their secretary to check for them... no warrant necessary at least in Canada.

This is wrong. Power/Water company employees can and do report 'suspicious activity' to the LEO. LEO doesn't have to spend the time phishing. Plus, an outside 'tip' helps them secure a search warrant.
