Dam ~O~ that sucks good to hear you and the little woman are ok! Home fires are scary shit .
that’s how lots of growers get busted here a freak fire then the firemen go threw the hole house looking for more fire and fined the grows .
hope they didn't see the plants?
Damn man, count your blessings you are one lucky individual even though you may not feel that way,I can understand.I Hate hearing in the media and from people that a "short" caused a fire,it goes against electrical common sense. You need an electrician to find out what caused the problem. If a short circuit occurs, the breaker will trip. What caused your fire is the wire overheated and burned because your overcurrent device didnt operate. It couldv'e been a bad breaker, oversized breaker a problem with conductor insulation/size in relation to the overcurrent device a whole lot of things none of which includes a short circuit. If your house isnt properly grounded or the circuit wasnt properly grounded that could be the problem. You need to find and correct whatever it was, that is if it still even exists or matters lol.Thank your lucky stars though you weernt another MJ grower/fire story thats for sure!
Damn OT. It is very true, good thing your ok and no-one was hurt!!! You and your plants are still there... good thing they didnt catch ya with the grow.
Did you have to hide your grow equipment before they came to inspect? Also, how did you get rid of things before the fire people got there? Just curious. Glad your okay though!
Well, lemme tell ya a story, the wife woke up smelling what she thought was our friend jo jo's clove cigs...and she went to investigate.Went thru the house just before the fire department showed up.
What I think she was smelling was the cedar shake shingles on the first layer of the roof starting to burn, thus the acrid smell,if you have a gay indian friend that smokes cloves, you will know what I mean.In a way,he helped save our lives.
She got to the living room in time to meet the fireman at the door ready to beat it down to get to us,it was locked and deadbolted like usual, just like the growroom.
We had smoke alarms with fresh batteries on the back porch, and the living room, and they never went off.Because the fire started in the kitchen wall behind the cook stove, and smoldered for hours before igniting the wall stud, climbing up the stud to the roof igniting the cedar shake shingles, then the wife smelled it.
She shook me awake, and we got our robes on grabed the purse, and split...then three companies of firemen rushed in to save our stuff.Meanwhile we sat in a cop car sweating and freezing...and watching our house burn.
The Red Cross showed up,and it just so happens that I know the dyke that came to give me money...and a blanket for each of us.They got us a cold pepsi, and cranked the heat, and the wife called her mom.Within minutes relief and anxiety set in at the same time.Red Cross debit card for 750 dollars in hand.
Phase two..go back and see if it is out..with wife and mother in law...should be fun.~O~ yeah, the dyke, she eats for free now at my store..pay it forward when ya can.More tomorrow...im fried in more ways than one. Thanks guy's.
ps,I forgot to mention the 25 mph winds feeding the fire from the back side, and just roasting the top off our crib..the grow room was never touched by fire, just water damage, and all evidence was destroyed or removed the same day before the fire marshal came.More today,er,mayby tomorrow, smaoke a bowl, and say thanks to the pot god's,and putting yer shit by the front door.
Well. I got the inventory of loss sent off to the insurance company, got out and got replacement prices, and got model numbers for replacing all my electronics lost. The total price to replace the home to new will be a little over $63,000.
The total price to replace the contents is a little over $15,000,and all my bills are paid until I agree to all work performed.I had all items in the home photographed as I got them new over the past 5 years, and all receipts were in the fire safe. That included pictures of all new appliances,RO units, electronics,tv's,computers, and playtoys.
Now I get an all new home, and all new stuff, the home built back to code, and a 5 year workmanship warranty on the home. The kicker is almost everything in the home was considered a loss, but a LOT of things were saved by the firemen. They had all those guy's come at once, half of them went in and fire tarped almost all the electronics in the bedroom, living room, and saved a lot of stuff.
They will be getting a huge pot of steak chili, slabs of cornbread, and fried taters delivered to the firehouse when we get back home.We made sure to include smoke detectors on the claim, they didn't go off because the fire was on the roof, until the fire department got there, when they came in,they went off.
I found both of them in the yard, one in the front yard, one in the back, they got tired of hearing them, and tossed them out in the yard.I have all new nutes in the apartment, all new friends, and everyone is a stoner here.I'm pretty well settled in until the house is rebuilt.
The last time I paid homeowners was in 2002 when I paid my little hovel off,I remember I had Lloyds of London insuring a relatively new growhouse lol. With my dog homeowners is frickin ridiculous, you'd think he was already a convicted killer, thats what really pisses me off about homeowners insurance
Well as I figured, they totaled it,and it will be about a 7 month rebuild time.Should get my check this week for replacing all the furniture and electronics. Then I get to go shopping at best buy...again.
Insurance is paying my bills, gotta get a new probe for my ph meter,ph solutions, a couple other things, and I'll be back to just about normal grow wise.I saved everything from the growroom, and everything is in storage but the essentials.New gallon jugs of juice in the other bedroom.
Some dirtbags went in and got the wife's old computer out of the drowned closet and pulled the hard drive and memory, took her broken wet sewing machine, and went into the basement and got two old burned up sump pumps, put it all in a box from the cleaning service that left a few there.
They got the memory and hard drive, but apparently got spooked, and left the box at the front door,or lack of front door. The wife doesn't have any credit cards so no personal credit info on the drive, and I didn't order anything on line from hers, just mine. And it was in the grow room with little damage.
They were even trying to steal the toiled paper we left...to me they are lower than what they were going to use it for.So I leased a storage unit from an ole boy that own's and lives there at the unit.Which,by chance,my place is in his back yard.My storage unit is about 400 feet from my burned out shell of a future home.Today we move all the salvage to the unit, from the garage.
Got the RO units here, and filling the cooler...some real bad commercial...not mine, just pics of friends stuff...told ya I was bored...oh yeah, new bong...
I've dealt with fire too. I lost electrical power to my room for months after and gave up growing for awhile. I want to start again. Yet, now the wife is paranoid. Just need to rebuild and get ready.
