Hi growers,
Does anybody have this tester: New HM Digital EC 3 Handheld Conductivity Tester/ Meter
I'm wondering if it's 500ppm or 700ppm to change the value to have the ec.??
There's no such thing as a PPM or TDS meter. PPM and TDS meters do not measure PPM or TDS, they measure EC and convert to lies. You have the truth, don't convert to lies.
1690 µS/cm sounds a bit strong. FWIW I'm generally in the 900-1200 range (0.9-1.2 mS/cm)
Whatever the formula on your bottle says, cut it in half and chart EC and pH daily for a week. EC up, pH down is too rich. EC down, pH up is too lean.
The various charts you see have never met you, your plants or your garden. EC movement is the plant telling you exactly what it wants. Oddly, getting EC and pH to run even is not good. You want pH to swing to absorb all nutrients. When you get your pH drift to 0.5 up or down over a week or two, thats the formula your plant is looking for.
I'm using one of these for the first time. Used to have a Martini and Hannah blue thingy now using HM products. Trying to get used to them. The ph meter seems faster but the EC readings seem a little strong. I'm getting 078 or so just from the tapwater here. Hoping I don't need a RO system putting in. PH eventually settles at 7.4-7.5
Have been using RO water before and now using the tap water. Have seedlings here and the Flora range. Going to stick in the mix as they say and try and get about 125 EC for their first feed. They are already looking like they need a feed.
Figuring the ph about 6 should do it.
That sound good? Looks like I'm stuck with the old ph down for the time being.
