I have watched the whole series before. They have one on herion/opium and other drugs as well. very good to watch, i think you'll be upset when you watch it to see what lies were told to make MJ illegal. Mostly based on racism and to stop support for veitnam wars ( hippies protesting)

"Mostly based on racism and to stop support for veitnam wars ( hippies protesting)"

Pretty darn good foresight that those people in the 20s and 30s were able to anticipate the 'veitnam' war and hippies...

Pythagllio, marijuana was relegalized from like 1968-1971 or something like that. Mr. Nevermind was refering to the hippies in this time period, and racism in the Reefer Madness era.

When I posted this I didn't mean to come across as a person blind to why drugs are illegal today. I have read, watched, and listened to a lot on the subject. I am just happy that this subject is getting some mainstream recognition.

Maybe I am wrong. After researching abit more I can't fimd anything about it. However, I can't seem to shake the thought that I read or watched this somewhere.

Does anyone know anything about this? I'm not even sure of those years. I seem to remember it being in the late 60's and not lasting very long.....

I think it was from 67-70. Tim Leary took case to supreme court that the law was unconsitutional and the court agreed and over turned law. Once Nixon was in office he used Mj as a way to stop the hippies who were protesting against the war. he used mJ to demonize people and made it illegal again.

It was releaglized after the previous tax law was proven to be considered self incrimination because inorder to get a tax stamp you had to have the marijuana on you and thus already be comitting a crime. It was Timothy Leary btw who brougth that up to the court. It was added in 1970 to the controlled substances act however so it legalization was short lived.

We've seen it many times, we were watching about Cocaine a while ago, then realized how many times we'd seen it. Hubby's watching CSI now, waiting for Mythbusters to start, and, well, you guys know where I am :D
