Hispanic middle-schoolers have higher rates of substance use.http://articles.latimes.com/2010/sep/01/news/la-heb-hispanic-drugs-20100901

Considering the current projected majority No vote from Hispanic folks I was interested to see that perhaps they are a generation or two away from being on the same level of wanting to legalize as the rest of us.

We were all kids once mind ya so this isn't bout cool the hispanic kids get high it's about tomorrow's voter.

A survey of students at 16 California middle schools shows Hispanic kids are more likely to smoke, drink or use marijuana than their peers in other ethnic or racial groups. In probing for the reasons for substance use, researchers found that Hispanic youths may lack confidence in their ability to say "no" to peers.

The study, conducted by Regina A. Shih and her colleagues at Rand Corp., was comprised of 5,500 seventh- and eighth-grade students who were surveyed about their drug use and factors influencing drug use. Overall, 22% of the students said they had ever used alcohol, 10% said they had smoked at some point and 7% admitted to smoking marijuana. But Hispanic youths were more likely to have used these substances compared with other groups. Among Hispanic students, 26% had tried alcohol, 12% had smoked cigarettes and 9% used marijuana.

What is the ?? is the new slogan "Rand Corporation: Getting into all your personal business under government contract."

I don't see the link you're trying to make.

Well I have ;lived in So Cal and Nor Cal and now Cen Cal. I have seen a bit of California culture.
Then there is the projected Hispanic no vote for Prop 19 and then there is a rise in popularity..

Well we all get old.

I was one who was armoured by cannabis at 13 and 14..

As for Rand don't they seem to be in places and know things before we do.. Sort of the Big Brother we learned about in 1984?

Did that help?

So you're saying that since more Hispanic kids try marijuana compared to other races that in the future they will vote yes is how I'm reading you. What I'm saying is without stats about the voters today I don't see that link. For all I know their parents also smoked more than other demographics and still plan to vote no.

I would expect your take on the subject to be more important than my creditability.
I have nothing to gain by playing the game.

What do you think on the subject.

I think that at the heart of the problem with the drug war is what I think is a privacy problem. People are sold this concept that not only is privacy a good thing but it's the end all of be all.

What we end up with is a country filled with people who are more than willing to put up with unjust laws because they can hide away in their homes covered in their privacy and be free to do what they want.

Privacy is the a prison, and what's worse it's solitude.

So we end up with hundreds of millions of people who don't vote in their best interests. I mean obviously if Americans voted in their best interests the drug war would be history.

From my experience trends in LA do move north in Ca.

How can I give a thumbs up or down to LA just making a connect to the conservative Hispanic vote here in Cen-Cal and what might happen in 10 years.

Ok but here's this study that is saying that legal voting aged Hispanics are already smoking more, but as you say there is a predicted 'no' vote. I just don't see the it happening. I don't think you can look at kids and predict that they will vote yes in the future because they are smoking. I think a lot of smokers are voting no today.

The results of our study show that use of marijuana remained stable in 2001-2002 compared to 1991-1992; however, there were significant increases in marijuana abuse or dependence, especially in certain minority subgroups," says Dr. Compton. "Overall, marijuana abuse or dependence rose by 22 percent from 1991-1992 to 2001-2002. This means that there were approximately 800,000 more adults in the United States with marijuana abuse or dependence in 2001-2002. Furthermore, marijuana abuse or dependence was more common among Whites than among minorities in 1991-1992, but by 2001-2002 the differences in abuse and dependence rates among the different ethnic groups had narrowed considerably. This change was due to increases of 224 percent among young African-American men and women aged 18-29, and 148 percent among young Hispanic men aged 18-29"

Culture Evolves.

Static Data is not a replacement for human Intelligence.

I am sharing readings of articles I have read in my opinion-form.

What do you think? Am I a human Fact Machine?

I also don't see reference links on your quotes.
