Himalayan Indica

I'm looking for some information on this strain and haven't been able to find much through the search feature. If anybody can help me out with either background info or growing experience that would be great!

I want to know if this strain is an IBL or landrace. I assume it is one of the two and not a hybrid, but I'm only guessing here. If it performs well in my climate I might use it for breeding so this knowledge would be quite helpful.

Has anybody grown this strain outside? Even if you've only grown it indoors, any info is appreciated. Pics would be great too!

Himalayan Gold is a different strain hansel, but thanks for the info.

I attempted to germ 10 Himalayan indicas and got 0/10. No signs of life after 1 week in paper towel with the first 5. I manually popped them open and the roottip would barely emerge, but that's as far as they got. I gave the next 5 a good scuffing before germing and one opened within 3 days (slight roottip showing). There's still a chance that it will break the surface but I'm not counting on it.

I really wanted to try this strain, and apparently should have tried it sooner because it seems like the seedstock is old and mostly non-viable. Oh well, I'll have to look elsewhere for a pure himalayan indica strain I guess. :badday:

I believe that mighty mite is a himalayan indica.

Yeah, it's a pure himalayan indica as the story goes, although there's a question of whether or not it actually contains some ruderalis. I already have mighty mite but I'm always on the search for new genetics.

There have been a few nepalese/himalayan indicas available over the years but they don't show up very often. I had Pink indica once which seemed to have potential but the deer got it before it was ready. I was really hoping for good things from this pack seeds but I guess it's not to be.

Kashmiri is on my wishlist, but it's too pricey for me at the moment. For now I've got Maple leaf, Mighty Mite, and some hybrids to play with over the summer. Maybe some day I'll be able to get some genetics straight from Nepal!

There's a few landrace indicas from Himalayan region. Annapurna comes from Nepal. It's one of the best adapted strains to low oxygen conditions. Kashmiri is probably natural hybrid with sativa, but expresses indica traits. Origin of Lebanese indicas is Kashmir. Burmese indica and those Indian indicas from Manali, Kumaon and Manipur (probably from Naga too) are more or less the same strain. They grow tall - 2m or even more, and they all perform pretty good in humid conditions.

I've heard of Annapurna indica before somewhere. That sounds like one I'd love to try, if I could ever find it.

let me yet mention that SpeesCees from No Mercy Supply is selling Nepal and Tibet strains, picked in regions of their origin... prices around 40 Euros/10 seeds.. unworked landraces..

My story....

My story....

I wish I knew then, what I know Now.I would have been much smarter on the crosses I made and saved.Saved being the key word!! I picked up Himalayan in Vancouver in the infancy of the seed business.I needed something with a quicker maturity to bring down the flowering time on a original Skunk#1.I believe the Himalayan to be Mighty-mite...some males auto-flower under 24/0.I chose a freaky male I dubbed Frankenstein and crossed it too the best F skunk. What came out was a plant that matured from Sept 25th to Oct7th at 47D.north.I have interbred ever since..sort of.I still have some of the Original f-1's and I will use those to reinforce the Himalayan side of the family. The himalayan is so 'standout' in any cross a fool could see the difference. What I've been running with for years are the kids of the original cross.f-4's,f-5's. The 1st cross with 'purpose' is usually the best..I want those genes forever! The plant can grow very tall outside unpruned..yields are crazy..it's a branch Breaker. The stone is very powerful. If you mix with beer or booze you're praying to the Porcelin God. I have since moved on to other projects..but the Himalayan and skunk taught me all the wonders of growing and making seeds.

Thanks for the info Skunk!

So you think the Himalayan indica and MM are the same strain? The seeds do look quite similar. Did the Himalayan have rounded leaf blades like MM does? I take it you didn't inbreed the Himalayan at all?

At the time..

At the time..

I was so concerned about improving the skunk flowering time..I really lost sight of the real super-star.Plus I really knew very little..just enough to be dangerous. So no I did'nt save the pure indica. It did have some real fatty leaves..they almost looked 'non-maryjane'.But what I ended-up getting was a real winner.I have always bred toward the indica side of the cross.Thedaddy's side is so dominant..it pretty much takes over anything it's crossed with..even where it's at now.I've crossed it 8ways till sunday...but Honestly never improving it.My last project was crossing the F-1'S with a f-4 kush...then crossing that back to daddy. It took 2years and the last cross was grown indoors with some gorgeous picture perfect leaves. If it was about beautiful plants, I would have won a ribbon..but the stone was'nt really the hammer I thought it would be.So what do ya do...I'm really proud of my first attempt. But there's always that little voice...The holy grail, the holy grail...Ya gotta Love it !!!
