Hey there Icmag it's @highfidelitygarden from IG! First time poster but nearly a decade long lurker and this is my favorite site to get grow info. Since Mars Hydro was so kind to hook me up with one of their FC-E 3000s to get my 2x3 closet space up and running. I've also got their full 4x8 tent, 6 fan/filter/controller, and 2x FC-E 4800s I figured I'd get my own thread running here to document it all. Big thank you to Mars Hydro for the light and for making an awesome product. Truly appears to be the best bang for the buck on the market.
So without further ado let's break down the setups, starting with the FC-E 3000 closet.
Recieved the light December 1st and everything was boxed very well and I love the modular design of the removable bars. Got it setup in my closet and it is perfect for the space it's basically just enough room between it and the walls to be raised and lowered. Did a par test with a buddies Pulse Pro and ended up seeing over 1100umol in the back at full power 12" from the light. Likely due to the white walls and close quarters but I'm impressed.
I figured a Mars Hydro light needed a hydro grow but I had never done any hydro so I got to researching and narrowed down to a DWC setup. Found a 19 gallon black tote from Walmart that is working perfectly. Drilled out 4 holes for 4" netpots and got 2 12" airstones hooked up to an 1110 gal/hr airpump that also runs air to the resevoirs for the other tents which are coco coir drain to waste.
I got some seeds in rockwool soaked in a 1.0ec nutrient solution of Jacks 12-4-16, Epsom and calmag. The strain is Cherry Hammer x Gordon Hashplant bred by @hashadashery on IG.
Took them a few days to pop and a couple more before I transplanted into the netpots with some hydroton and filled the resevoir with 1.3ec nutrient solution and turned everything on. I added another airstone as well. Light is at about 20% at this point.
Then it was basically just set and forget for the first 2 weeks.
I did some topping and removing of fan leaves to open up the branches below to the light and you can see the roots are nice and long now.
At this point I noticed a bit of root problems and added some hydrogen peroxide and they stopped being much of an issue. I'm trying to run this whole time without a water change. Since it's a sterile environment I should be fine to add peroxide here and there and add fresh nutrient solution regularly as they begin really drinking but if they need it I'll do a change.
A week later and they're really starting to bush out. Did some light defoliation just to free up the tops to the light and remove some damaged lower growth.
And a week after that I bumped the ec up again to 1.6 and topped up the water (yesterday) and they are super happy and healthy with a really great looking root system.
Now on to the FC-E 4800s in the 4x8. Got everything from Mars Hydro for this run. The tent, the fan/controller, the filter and the 2 lights. Strains are GG x GG4 Bx8, (Humboldt og x Dosido) x GG4 Bx8, Blue Dream x Brazalien, Carat Cake, Spicy Cookies x (Cherry x Gordon), Chem Weapon x Atomic Diesel, (Chem Weapon x Atomic Diesel) x Spicy Cookies
Set everything up. Boy was it tough to get the tent stretched over the frame with the 4x4 on the other side of the room there but I got it done and realized the big door flaps were on the wrong side so I had to take it apart and redo the whole thing lol.
Theres a Ton of great airflow options in this thing I have the 6" fan and filter coming out the top side and then both big bottom intakes open (one has a forced ac intake by taping the duct to the portable ac) and both small bottom intakes in the back open as well. And this seems to pull a good airflow from all sides. I set up 2 fans from the ceiling making use of the airflow through the light to help with circulation. It helps to not have the drivers mounted on the lights in this tent. Solid 4° temperature difference without them.
Excuse the mess was still getting things set up.
I had some plants ready to go in solo cups of Mother Earth's coco so I transplanted them into 1 gallons and got them loaded in the 4x8 on my custom drain to waste trays. Pvc slanted frame with a black tray from tractor supply that drains into a condensate pump. I also shifted the placement of the hanging hooks on the light to have it hang slightly tilted to match the slope of the tray.
This is the pump that I use. I just hook it up to those 9 port drip manifolds and run 1/4" lines from there. I leave em open to avoid clogging. The coir saturates pretty well so I'm not using any drip rings or anything like that. Set up for 2 feeds a day at 2.0ec.
Stretched the net, bent them over and left for Christmas. Didn't realize I forgot to put a siphon vent on the system so it drained through slowly over the time away. Had a buddy go over and manage things while I was gone so luckily didn't come home to a burnt out pump. I came home to lots of new growth to scrog down though!
And a week later I also put the scrog on the other side and a second layer on the first side
Got some beautiful trich development in veg here
Flowers developing on the Blue Dream x Brazalien
Defoliation time
Tent overview a week later (1/13) feeding around 2.3ec 3x a day
Added the dehumidifier. Temps are running around 84-86 and the plants are loving it.
The bigger side is 2 weeks into flower the smaller side is 1 week into flower
And here's a bud shot from today
Now you're up to speed so let the grow continue! Any questions feel free to ask. I'm pretty active on ig so you can follow me at @highfidelitygarden to see more of what's going on. All plants are for medical use no sales but I am planning to start producing seeds now that I've got a tent with a merv 13 filter to use. Some of the plants I'm growing in this log are my first crosses so I'm very excited to see how they turn out. Huge thank you again to Mars Hydro for making an amazing product and for kicking me the FC-E 3000 for my first hydro run!
