high co2 levels with no burner or tank

I have lights on co2 levels of around 1500-2000ppm and lights off upto 2400

Thats with nothing supplementing the room I have 2 sniffers giving me the same reasons so I dont think its a malfunction.

Its a sealed room, the gas furnace isnt in the same room or even on right now for that matter.

Does anyone know what could be causing the super high co2 levels?

are you fermenting something in there? that's much more that I would expect in a normal home..
also, do you feel dizzy when breathing that air? be careful, prolonged exposure to high levels of CO2 can be dangerous.

only feel dizzy if i think about high co2 levels making me dizzy. Never felt anything before I put the second co2 sniffer in the verify the high levels.

nothing is fermenting and no natural gas things are running. The co2 level in the outside near the place is around 450ppm

all i can think of is maybe sewer gas, which im going to check for tonight

well if it's really a sealed room, you should be able to ventilate some air in there and get rid of that CO2 (which would be really odd to appear in a sealed room by itself anyway).
now, if there's a sewer in that room, things could be fermenting in it and that may be the CO2 source.

If you don't find the source, you could try to ventilate the space till you get it to regular levels and see how fast it goes up.

good luck!

How big of a setup? Plants let out co2 at night. If you are sealed it has nowhere to go. I've witnessed high levels like that in rooms with big tree's when it is packed.

the furnace pilot light is the most likely culprit also decaying plant mater produces co2 as well i say get some plants growing in there and use up some of those greenhouse gasses and help save the planet... LOL

thats really high ppm's. I just went sealed room with mini split. I have noticed ppm's in the 900-1100 range with out any intake or exhaust. And i thought that was unusual.

A natural gas appliance is probably causing it. 2000ppm of CO2 might not hurt you but it's a sign that there might be high CO in the air from the same source. Get a CO meter (not a simple alarm but rather a $100 meter that can read low ppm) to be safe.

IIRC human breathing releases 1 cu ft of CO2 every two hours on average, so if your home isn't well ventilated than you could be the main source.

Are you in a detached single family house? Am I correct in saying that no gas appliances have been turned on at all in recent days in this building? No hot water, furnace, stove, clothes dryer, etc?? Have you put your CO2 meter in various places like near any pilot lights or compared CO2 levels of various rooms in the building?

Your house stands on an old indian graveyard and every time you smoke a plant grown there you will beat up any palefaces around you^^

Hey mentioned he gets a 450ppm reading outside of the room. If the room is indeed sealed the outside should not affect it. If you have a lot of plants or a room packed with some big plants this will be ur source.. As long as everything else is Tru ie: no furnace or non of that running. And truly sealed.

are you taking the readings while you are in the room? i can get my levels up to 2500 or so in a minute or two of being in there.

i have a controller so i read the ppms from outside the room.

its 8x1000watts promix with large plants

with lights on the room sits at about 1500-2000ppm

its a natural gas furnace but its high efficiency and it isnt running because its still warm out

i have the drain of the a/c running down the sewer cap with a 1/2" hole drilled through it with a piece of pex sticking it it, i put a peice of duct seal around it hopefully it was sewer gas. I will report back tomorrow

Maybe even post some pictures up its just a small setup compared to todays medical grows

Are u supplementing co2 with bottle or burner during lights on? I wouldn't worry about it too much. If u are concerned you can setup a vent to vent only at lights off.

8k with some large ladies can give u a good dose of o2 at lights out. Some ppl take advantage of this when they exchange the air between 2 rooms.

ortsa I would use a glass tube and syringe co2 tester to check your meters, thats unbelievably high especially with lights on

i filled the plumbing traps up with glycol so they wont evaporate as quick and filled in a gap in the floor, levels are sitting around 1200 now not sure if it was coincidence or the sewer gas had somthing to do with it

1 20lb tank has lasted a whole crop though hardly ever turns on
