Hi new grower here need some wisdom

Hi everyone!
New passionate grower looking for some guidance and advice on my setup and lighting ect.
My grow is classified as a micro grow due to it being in my closet, I am working with 5 foot height, 3 foot deep, and 6 foot wide. Aiming to use about half of the closet.
I was looking at LED, HPS, and CFL lighting for my grow and I came across these options:
240W LED( really favoring this but its only veg/clone? not good for flower?)

Hey bro, i grow in a closet with a 400w switchable. Heat is not bad at all. Buds the size of a coke can though.

No clue on the LEDS. I've seen them do well on others grows, i know they kick some ass for veg.

IMHO I think you're better off with HID (hps/mh).. depends on how tall you;re gonna go with yout plants... as you said you have 5ft of height...I think the HID ligting would penetrate the canopy better..... Just my thoughts...please correct me if im wrong. Hope to see your grow log soon!!

I grow in about the same size space. I use a 90watt LED for VEG and it works SO GOOD!! and never any heat issues and no stretching. I use a 400watt HPS cooltube for flower.

DaPurps- Thanks man, do you have a cool tube on the 400w? I would spring for a HPS/MH if I didn't have to make a cool tube for it.

adam59600- I'm leaning more towards a HPS/MH just because I can get more bang for my buck with them. I like the idea of LED grow for stealth and electrical efficiency reasons, but I think ill just get a HPS/MH. How much do you yield from your 400w? They say you want to get around 1gram per watt, I would love to yield 400 grams but doubt thats gonna happen.

denvermmj- sounds like a complete set up; looking further down the road i would invest in an LED for flowering, but right now I need a light for both veg/flowering. How many plants do you grow under the 400, and how much do you yield per grow?

I wouldn't consider it a micro grow at all. I use much less space.

I use a 400W for 2 years now (lately a 600W) too and a cooltube lets you get the plants closer to the light and thus use your light more efficiently.
I've picked a cooltube pretty early on as heat was a major issue (and still is) as the ambient temp was pretty high to start with.

250W CFL is FAR from 400W HID. Its like quarter the light.
I don't think that LEDs worth their price. And I don't think a 240W LED is better than a 400w HID light-wise either.

You don't get to 1 gram-per-watt that quick.
I've reached 0.88 PGW and I consider it awesome.
Getting 0.5-0.75 GPW on your first year is what you should aim for.

With the size you have I'd get a 600W and proper venting.

that sounds good to me too...600 won't be that much hotter than a 400 as long as ventilation is maintained. Good luck!

If i was you (but i'm me)........

As peeps mentioned the 400 would probably be your best bet.Having 5 ft to work with is another reason,why use a light thats not going to penetrate all of your space.You plan on splitting up your space i'm guessing for flower and veg?Or will this space be for flower only?

Thing about the 400 don't skimp on a a/c hood or cooltube,you'll be lookin like booboo da seal when you realize you shoulda done it from the start.

Don't even pay attention to that g/per watt stuff yet.With a dialed in space peeps can pull a pound with the right strains.You want a rotating crop so your yeild will depend on how you choose to run your garden.

6 in flower 3 weeks apart

12 in flower 1 week apart

and tons of other possibilities.....

Forgot to mention - I love my grow lights.
I use Sylvania GroLux lights, they are mixed spectrum and made for growing. They are great for both veg and flowering.

If I could I'll buy a Ceramic Metal Halide next to replace my 400W. They work on an HPS ballast, like mine, and should be better on pretty much every aspect.
