Walmart also has a digi thermo/humidity with remote base station (actually reads the humidity from the base!) for around $23...It'll handle 3 remote sensors as well...

Petco also carries activated carbon for anyone needing it for a DIY carbon scrubber.

LOWES has the best prices on remote thermometers.. digitals ones.. i bought 5.. 3 that read humidity/temp on an IN/OUT level and the other 2 were just temp on in/out but the out probe was submersible.. they were 8-10 dollars a piece.. same brand as my local hydro store's 25 dollar thermometers.. and theirs dont have little LIGHTS!!!:) go to lowes

you guys like to support those huge companies???

walmart in particular will never see business from me, I would think that everyone on this website would be like minded in that respect, not supporting slave labor and corportate $$$ bullshit.

Lowes is owned by the walmart Corp as well, FYI...

I like to spend a few extra bucks and buy from a community store, knowing exactly who it is and what I am supporting...

We are living in a time of moral and ethical issues everyday; our growing supplies are only a part of these issues. We must be ethical with our choice to grow cannabis, that includes everything from what we do with it to where we purchase the growing materials.

Ethics is completely subjective in nature, lets keep the discussion about where to get stuff and not about why. No offense intended WheresMyBud?

i don't work for lowes, but i work for the other big hardware chain...and i say keep shopping there.

my chain has almost 2500 stores, with an average of 100-200 employees per store, they create a LOT of jobs. us stiffs need some source of income.

Vermont was the last state to get a walmart (I'm 90% positive) and since then a lot of smaller shops have gotten shut down. I only know of two hydro stores within a hour drive. They don't even stock anything respectable aside from mylar...it's a shame what Wallyworld has done, however they made their play and won.

Yeah cause walmart is selling all them hydroponic grow supplies, ha. Hydro stores come in handy for special horticultural bulbs, premade ballasts, hard to find retail soils like fox farm, and nutes and supplements. Maybe some overpriced hydro kit/system or something. None of those are walmart type things, at least in 99% on the country.

There's a lot of shit at walmart for folks who are DIY'ers though. But that's irrelevant really, the hydro store wouldn't see a lot of diy'ers money anyway cause they are gonna rig some shit themselves up for cheaper regardless.

The real reason for the decline in hydro shops is just that, the first place 99% of all people go who are trying to learn to grow these days is the internet, there's a lot of info that removes the "mystery", and they figure out they don't need to buy that $500+ "hydro system" down at the local hydro shop made out of rubbermaids, a pump, some cheap plastic tubing, and a 250w or 400w hps with a cheapass reflector. And they learn they could set up an actually respectable grow for less.

Also, it's hard for retail stores to compete with online businesses. They want $130 for a 265 dayton fan at the local shop here, online the SAME EXACT fan be found for $85 after shipping (meanwhile a diy'er would buy the stanley blower for only $40-$50 from walmart, haha. )

Well I'm not a hydro grower, however my walmart stocks some pretty exotic ferts. They also have HPS's in the lighting section. One of the two hydro stores near me doesn't even stock lights, they order them for you and you get to wait two weeks. Very shitty.

Good for you then. Fuck hydro. Yeah, I said it folks. Organic is where it's at. And no, not "organic hydro".

I wasn't refering the wallyworld has grow supplies. the only thing I have ever bought for my grow from wallyworld is Ephson salt and containers. I'm a organic soil man myself. Can;t get away from the superior taste it gives. Where my wife is from (Germany) they are closing all the wallyworlds there. Two different companys banded together and bought out their store across Germany and surrounding areas.

I share your sediments...but since I live in Mayberry...I don't have a choice. No alternative outlets here. Walfart has put them out of business.

Even my Walfart doesn't have near the selection big city ones have...so online ordering is my usual way to shop.

Cheers,
SH
