i am over 50 years old, and i have not made hash or hash oil since the 70's, but i do have a question, if i could

why is methylene chloride (dichloro-methane) never mentioned as a solvent? when i was making hash oil it was by far the most popular and because it does not burn, it was also the safest. Is there some problem with methylene chloride that i am unaware of.

thanks,

LD

I did a search out of curiosity and that stuff sounds pretty scarey to me, this is what i found
-Methylene chloride, also called dichloromethane, is a volatile, colorless liquid with a chloroform-like odor. Methylene chloride is used in various industrial processes in many different industries including paint stripping, pharmaceutical manufacturing, paint remover manufacturing, and metal cleaning and degreasing. The most common means of exposure to methylene chloride is inhalation and skin exposure. OSHA considers methylene chloride to be a potential occupational carcinogen.

hi, ugs;

yeah, but i bet the same could be said of ethyl alcohol. and dichloromethane does not burn, so it is safe to use.

usually when osha deems something as a known carcinogen i deffinantly don't want to smoke something made from it. Sorry ethyl is by far more safer than that.
