Hermaphrodites!!

Hello, so I was feeding all my girls today and as usual I like to give them all a good look over while I have them pulled out. Well... I found a few small nanners on my biggest girl! Fuck! I only found 3 total and carefully cut them off. Im thinking it could be from the light being too close a few weeks ago when they were stretching like crazy. The tops were starting to lighten and almost turing a slight yellow color but within a day of raising he light they were back to normal again. The nanners I found were only on these top buds, none on the lowers at all that I could tell.
Im wondering if now that I cut them off, do you think Ill be ok? Ill be watching them very very closely for more male flowers appearing, but Im hoping I dont find any more. I would hate to have to chop this girl down as she is my biggest and most healthy looking girl! She is my only bagseed plant though, so Im thinking this may be why?

I just realized there wasn't much of a question in there... Im kind of in freakout mode right now. This being my first grow, I don't really know how to handle this situation. Ive read about it, and Ive heard of people just plucking them out. I guess my questions are: if its heat/light/stress induced, will I be ok just plucking them out when I see them if its just one or two here and there? How likely is it that they can polinate my other plants in the room? If I continue to keep finding them, at what point to I just cut my losses and chop her down for the good of the rest of my room? Or should I just not even risk it at all amd chop her now just in case she produces some that I miss and they end up polinating the rest of my room?
This is my favorite girl and I would hate to chop her!!! But, she is my only bag seed plant; the rest are all feminized seeds from a breeder, so they should be ok but I will definitely keep a close eye on them all from here out!

herm is kind of strain related. I had some freebies from a very popular seed breeder that won cups and it produced me 3 hermies. Although i had 5 females and 3 turned hermie after 2 weeks of flower, i through away all 5.

i still get herms. its a genetic thing. fem beans (the most popular) have herm genetics in them.

Lotus, so what do you do with them? Do you always have to chop the plant down or do you just get rid of the male flowers before they can develop?

If the herm incidence isn't too bad you can pluck them & pray. Pray they don't come back & pray that if they do, they're manageable. If you get tired of plucking nanners n balls you get to decide when to throw in the towel.

If nanners are manageable then you may even decide to keep a cut of that plant around.

I'm a stickler myself & have no tolerance for hermaphrodites in my garden. The girl would get the boot if I had to pluck nanners/balls more than a couple times & then they'd never get run again.

Well I guess send me some good vibes everyone. Lets hope she doesn't go full herm on me and that shes salvageable. She really is a very pretty plant and a vigorous flowerer. She looks weeks ahead of the others but I started flowering them all at the same time. I forgot, but I also did have a minor light leak for the first 2 weeks of flowering from the air vent at the bottom of the room. Ive had it shut for a while now because all it really seems to do is let in hot air. Ive since taped it shut and its now 100% pitch black after lights out. Maybe that could be the culprit too.
Live and learn I guess. I knew going into this grow that this would be a trial run to get things dialed in and learn learn learn! So, now I know for next time right?!

It depends on the nature of the hermie. If it's a genetic hermie with full on pollen sacks on the lower nodes i'd toss it

But if it's bananas coming out the buds then they are not as bad. Some may even produce sterile pollen. what week are you in?

If you had a light leak that probably is the culprit. Keep a cutting & run it again in a completely darkened room or, if you can, outdoors under the sun.

What Timm said seems accurate ime as well.

When you check your tent for light leaks you'd be wise to get in it while empty & lights are on in the room the tent is in. Sit in your tent for about 10 minutes or so, so that your eyes are fully adjusted to the dark, then carefully look around for light leaks. When done in this manner, I typically find leaks in my peripheral vision but can't detect them by looking straight at them. These are the leaks that screw everybody. Especially when running sensitive plants.

What mm passion said light leaks are crucial... I used to have a white dawg that would throw male flowers at the end and I believe they were sterile, I never found a seed in there ever, but I tossed the plant after a few runs....

hermies are mostly all in the genes. stress might make it show faster but stress wont cause a plant that wasn't going to hermie flip out. if it's a couple at the base of a node here and there you might be alright, but if the male flowers showed at the end of a female bud or in the middle of the flowers it's 99% gonna be full on hermie no matter how many nanners you pluck out.

this is false information, "reversing" a plant doesnt produce hermie offspring.. this is a fairy tale... STS or CS are the most common ways of reversing plant.. they both CAN bring out hermaphrodite traits that a plant has already in her genes...
so Feminized seeds arent hermies!!

I am on day 28, so the end of week 4 is today. I checked all of the lower nodes amd I could find no other male parts. I looked over the entire plant very closely and the only ones were the 3 nanners I found all on very top buds. I did do a light leak check when I taped up the vent last week and its completely pitch black. Lets hope Im ok from here out :)
