Hermaphrodite: Pull or Cut it's nuts off?

I have 6 ladies in the works now, week 6 of flowering. On one plant only, there are tiny pods growing yesterday where I would normally see white hairs (where the stem branches off.) I cut all that I saw. That was yesterday.

Today I came home from work and I found a couple more. There are not a shitload of them. Only one or two at the base of a flower for instance. So when I tried to cut these ones, I actually think I found a yellow pollen in one, but in the other I found little hairs.

I am pretty much a newb at this (one timer here  ) so I am quite confused. 2 of the 6 plants are 13week blooms whereas the other four are 9week blooms. The Hermaphrodite in question is a 9week bloom.

Anyone have some kind advice? Thanks much

Kill it.... Kill it... Kill it...

You have nothing to gain by keeping it ... You could finish it away from all the rest to avoid pollination.. and seeds from its self pollination would be female, but in my experience, they often turn out to be prone to hermaphroditism as well.

Is it true now all my plants will have seeds? I am gonna be really bummed :nono:

I went to kill the hermie and pulled it out to look at it. I think I removed all the pods and seeds. Is this good enough or KILL KILL KILL??

it's your choice. if you are intent on having no seeds, kill it. however, if the trade off of some seeds or many seeds for another plant of bud is worth it to you, keep it.

This is the money you could be saving if you grow

It would be a shame to kill a 6 week old female plant when it's not ready for harvest. For my own hermi experience, I average 10 seeds per plant, and most of the seeds came from the 1 or 2 lower buds on the plants. The seeds tend to produce female plants and a few hermis. Still. I think it's a waste to rip a plant that's not ready to be ripped.

That depends on how your viewing the situation though,to me a plant flowering 6 weeks and in danger of pollenating 5 other 100% female plants is definately a plant thats ready to be ripped.Sounds like a virile plant too if you're snatchin balls one day only to find more the next..

if you can keep on top of pulling the balls off then keep it going. but it seems a shame to kill it, maybe u could put it somewhere else to finish off?

thanks so much for the replies. I am still torn. I do have an extra 4x4 hydrohut (just got a new Hydrohut Deluxe!!)

Is it possible that my other plants have already been pollenated by this rogue hermie?

CRAP!! I found more pods on the rest

CRAP!! I found more pods on the rest

Well I guess that just about does it for this crop unless someone can miraculously tell me otherwise. I have closely examined all the plants and each one of them has a few of these pods some of which already looked open.

I am a realist....I have a mother waiting to be cloned...i can move on. Is there any salvation for these bitches? Is it possible to continue growing all six and still only have a few seeds or is it gonna become a pollen mess that grows and grows until that last week when I would have massive seeds or?

Is it possible this strain just has hermaphroditic tendancies maybe? Or am I rationalizing?

I feel awful about this, but need to know the truth. Anyone got any input?

Damnn I personally dont like the idea of having massive polen explosion in my grow!
And thinking on next grows i dont know if they would be 100% polen safe...

Week 6... Guessing your plants would end in ~8week its not too bad to try to keep it under control in a daily base for a week... or a bir more...

Cut your clones NOW... they will take more than a week just to root...

Update: Pictures to help understand - Just a few seeds or Hermie?

Update: Pictures to help understand - Just a few seeds or Hermie?

Ok, I have spent some time pondering things. In accepting advice from people, I have to assume a certain amount of liability. I almost chopped down everything I have so I could move on from this supposed catastrophe but then it dawned on me that perhaps I did not make clear enough what a newb I am to this all. I have one completed harvest, of which I think I got horribly lucky with the results. Thats it. Perhaps I overreacted?

In this case, is it possible I am just locating seeds and not pollen filled pods? Is it possible the pollen I saw was plant substance colored yellow by the HPS and INTERPRETED it as pollen? Is it possible I just viewed the situation as a problem and tainted my original description with a preconception of its outcome?

I have only found two or three of these per plant, afterall. So today, I took some pictures. Someone please drive the nail into the coffin so I can move on? hehe - My hopes are I am going to have the occasional seed discovery when packing bowls (hopefully not during the smoking of said bowl :puppydoge )

I have found the occasional pod opened with hairs coming out of it but the most part I just find premature seeds I think.

Anyways, sorry for the messed up light. Here are a couple pics of the my second batch.

Thanks all so much for the input!!!

Relax socky, you will have what you need, just check them everyday for balls and cut them, you will have great buds and if you get a few seeds they are a female treasure. just let them be.... peace out...

erm hang on... the first picture of the "balls" is not clear. the second picture is a calyx, its meant to have hairs and its meant to get big and fat, but it does not always contain a seed. the calyx's are the "bud" which you smoke.
also some plants will start seeds ready for polination but that never happens so they are always little and just dry out, they do not affect the bud in anway.

did you definatly find "balls" on this plant?

no, i found pods. the balls in the first picture ...when opened up contain fleshy material. The material inside resembles the shape of the "ball" it came in. does that help?

let me go check them tonight...maybe more have sprung up...i will take a picture if i find any....they are pretty tough to locate...brb

This picture is a calyx yes, and it hasn't been pollinated because the hairs are still fresh and white (brown hairs doesn't necessarily mean pollination but all pollinated calyxes have brown hairs that fall off).
Even unpollinated calyxes have very small "seeds" inside - they're the structures that will develop into real seeds after pollination.

So the calyxes get fertilized, then what happens to them? The hairs turn brown and just fall off? then a seed appears?

And only the calyxes get fertilized?

gosh i feel like i had this conversation with my dad at at 7 re: birds and bees....maybe i should have paid closer attention ....hehe
