Here's what's in my "dank bank" - Pls help decide what to grow/fridge/freeze!

Hello party people,

so I have been busy for the past half year or so and I am about to close up my seed acquiring activities and start to prepare the seeds for their future, be it grow soon, grow over next years or the freezer for now.

I don't simply want to flaunder my dank bank with this post but also ask for your advice and opinions.

No pictures for now as it would just be little plastic tubes with labels on them, where's the fun in that (although I do get a sense of satisfaction looking at that imho beautifully prepared pile of seed tubes xD).

Now without further ado, here's what's in mah dank bank:

Ace Seeds:
- Malawi Fruity
- Malawi Old Killer
- Malawi New Killer
- Malawi Purple
- Zamaldelica
- Pakistan Chitral Kush

Karma Genetics:
- Karma OG
- White OG V2
- Headbanger

Mr. Nice Seeds:
- Angel's Breath
- Angel Heart
- Ash
- Black Widow
- Critical Mass
- Dreamtime
- Early Haze
- G13 Skunk
- G13 Widow
- La Nina
- Mango Haze
- Mango Haze IBL
- Mango Widow
- Master Kush x Skunk
- Medicine Man
- Neville's Haze
- Neville's Skunk
- National Health Service
- NL5 x Skunk
- Nordle
- Ortega
- Shit
- Spice
- Super Silver Haze
- Walkabout
- Z8 x Afghan Haze

PeakseedsBC:
- Blueberry
- C99
- Sweet Skunk
- C99xBB

Plus a few freebies but not sure what they will be yet.

Now for the advice part:
I will have 18 5gallon pots for flower. Let us assume for now that I have at least 18 seeds of each strain and could monocrop all the way through if I wanted to.

It has been many years since I have last grown so I want to start with some simple and forgiving varieties.
Up until recently I thought I start off with either NL5xSkunk or Shit.
But it has been so long and I am so unfamiliar with almost all of those strains...
I feel like I should simply get to know all of them first or at least most... So I can make an informed decision on which of those to grow, monocrop, breed, etc.

Really have a tough time deciding and sort of have to now because I need to decide which of these beans to freeze for long term and which to move into the fridge to grow over the next 5 or so years.

The seeds are in little plastic tubes with silica gel and little cotton slabs to seperate gel and beans. They should store well.

What I put in the fridge for the next 5 years is basically the question.

I was just thinking about what I want to grow "each round" for the foreseeable future and came up with this list:

1st round:
- Shit (6)
- NL5xSkunk (6)
- Master Kush x Skunk (6)

2nd:
- Critical Mass (6)
- Nordle (6)
- Pakistan Chitral Kush (6)

3rd:
- C99 (18)

4th:
- Mango Haze (18)

5th:
- Neville's Haze (18)

6th:
- Malawi (18)

7th:
- Blueberry (18)

8th:
- White OG (12)
- Karma OG (6)

9th:
- Headbanger (12)
- Karma OG (6)

10th:
- Zamaldelica (12)
- La Nina (6)

11th:
- Super Silver Haze (12)
- La Nina (6)

12th:
- Mango x Widow (12)
- G13 Widow (6)

13th:
- G13 Skunk (12)
- G13 Widow (6)

14th:
- Medicine Man (12)
- Ortega (6)

15th:
- Black Widow (12)
- Ortega (6)

Assuming 3 harvests a year which surely is ambitious but fair for an assumption I believe.

So these seeds I would prepare for the fridge (probably add +1 or +2 each to pop some extra each round in case of germ issues or runts).

The rest would go into the freezer.

Let me know what you think of my selection, if you think I oversaw a strain that I should definitely run and which you would drop from the 15 round list I had in mind.
Maybe I should run each round like the first two? With 3 strains of 6 beans each? Or even more strains per round with fewer beans each?
Do keep in mind that I want to find keeper mum's and dad's and do some breeding down the road. Just considering multi strain grows because I am unfamiliar with most of them and don't really know which ones I will like the most yet so I need to balance out "pheno hunting" with "getting familiar with the strains" ...

Thanks and looking forward to your opinions!

Zamal and Malawi all the way for sure, if I were lucky enough to have such a massive seed collection at my disposal.

Dang with all the seeds in your bank, you could cover a football field with plants.

I would personally grow no less than 2 strains and probably more like a min of 4.
It would really suck to pop a single variety just to find that you dont care for anything it produced.

there is a lot you havent told us about your plans and setup in order to give you better suggestions on what to do.

ill just assume you are planning on keeping mothers and fathers of all the plants until youve run them and decide which ones make the cut?

how big of a space are you planning on using and what kind of equipment?

one thing that ive picked up on lately is that a small plant can give you a pretty good idea of quality and characteristics, without taking up a whole lot of room. this means that you can get an idea about say, 64 different strains/plants in the same space as some might put 4 or 8 or even just a single plant.

so with so much seed and so little time, you may want to consider making a small area(or large) that you can throw clones straight into flower. you wont be delaying the finish with any veg time, so you will know what each plant is as soon as possible.
this will prevent you from growing out larger plants of something you are not as fond of.
as soon as you find something you really like, you can grow bigger plants/rooms of that cut. and keep on your search through the seeds and smaller plants until you find more stuff you want to put in the big rooms.

also with some stuff, it is nice to see as many different plants of a particular variety as possible, to select what you think is the best.
with others, they are more uniform and throwing down the whole pack might just be a waste of 3/4s of that pack.

don't freeze your seeds. refrigerator only.

Best advice yet.
Every time they thaw a percentage will be left unviable, I've heard 10-20%. That seems a bit high but even 5% loss per thaw would make it a deal breaker for me.
Power outages equals fewer good seeds.
In the fridge is easier and less risky.
Don't forget the desiccant.
I've had 90% germination after ten years in the fridge, very acceptable.

Hi all!

first off:
Thank you all!

Second:
Don't know why the jointed one thinks I assume 18 females from the seeds??
I have 3 daddy isolation chambers and 2 flowering rooms.
I can either use the smaller flowering room for flowering males or the isolation chambers.

I indeed want to keep cuts of both mums and dads.
Will clone before flowering and keep the backup clones until I flowered everything, then decide on the keeper males.
After curing and sampling the buds, I will decide on keeper females.
In the meantime, I will run the next strain etc.

I also read that you can get a good idea about the genetics of each particular plant from flowering them small, as long as they reached maturity before you send them into flower.
Was quite set on flowering something like 30 plants or more each cycle and just use very small containers.

However, I decided to grow organically, I am not interested in Hydro and organic growing seemed like the best path for me as I am all about quality and taste and flavor and such.
To go organic, I need a certain pot size however.
I decided on 5 gallon pots. They are low-end spectrum size-wise when it comes to organic no-till growing but they work in that setup and work well. If I could go smaller with organic, I would.
But 3 gallon pots will be very iffy, especially for the no-till part.

Other than that this is my setup:
Flower room small:
0.9x1.1 meters, 315w cdm, 6x 5gallon pots
Flower room big:
1.2x1.4 meters, 315w cdm, 12x 5gallon pots
Veg room:
1.5x1.4 meters, 315w cdm, several T5s (has 2 shelves for clones, seedlings, bonsai parents), forgot how many pots can fit in there.

By the way:
I just cleaned out another basement of mine and found 15+ year old seeds xD
Nirvana Pure Power Plant (10) and 12 Bonus seeds marked as "Skunk x African". I assume it is Skunk x Durban Poison.
Not sure if I should pop them for the first go since they are so old xD

Anyway:
My idea was to go 2-3 strains for the first 2 cycles and then go to 1 max 2 strains per cycle after that.
Grow for a few years and settle on 6 strains, then start my breeding efforts from those 6 strains.

The "likely" 6:
- C99
- Blueberry
- Malawi
- Mango Haze
- Neville's Haze
- White OG

But who the fuck knows, right?

I think I just grow what tickles my fancy and keep an eye open for exceptional plants. Keep Bonsai parents of those exceptional plants over the next years and then go into breeding with them.

By the way:
I forgot to ask in my original post (will edit)!

Do you guys think I am missing something in my dank bank? Is there something you think everyone should have or know?
I am not talking about personal favorites here.

More like around 2000, if anyone made a bank of strains and didn't include AK47, everyone would tell him/her to get that.
Know what I mean?

I did include the Karma strains at the end because I felt like this is the "new school" and I wanna know what all the OG fuss is about, if it really is the pinneacle of weed etc. etc.
This way I can make up my own mind.
The peakseeds gear was because C99 was my runner up back then when I grew AK47 and I always wanted to try it and was sad that it seemed to have disappeared, also I am fond of Jack Herrer.
The Blueberry is because I always wanted to taste either Blueberry or Bubblegum. Blueberry was easier to find a reputable source with a good deal. Still trying to acquire bubblegum...

Mango Haze could also be Neville's Haze. Both strains interest me very much, I will grow and try both and might incorporate both in my breeding aspirations.

Malawi went on the list as I wanted something pure, something landrace, something sativa. The Malawi seemed to be the queen landrace sativa on the market at the moment and African strains always interested me.

So I figure I know have some old-school top-notch stuff, some new-school top-notch stuff and some selected things in between.
I feel quite happy with my seed stash, just wondering if any of you think something essential is missing.

If anyone wants to say Bodhi:
I thought about it, decided against it. Karma won out over Rare Dankness, Connoisseur Genetics and Bodhi in the end.

Regarding the fridge vs freezer:
Hmmm, I always thought it is "fridge for anything up to 5 years and freezer for anything longer" ?
I am aware that you always loose some seeds if you freeze them but I am also quite confident that this is how seeds are kept long term with seed vendors and co.

I could just keep them all in the fridge as well but I think those that I know won't be grown in the coming 5 years, I should rather freeze now, no?
I will keep slightly more seeds than I can grow in 5 years in the fridge anyway.

Ah and to the guy who commented I could grow football fields with these seeds:
Indeed I could, I suppose.
I am working on moving to a legal place in the coming years where I will be able to grow in greenhouses. Will get me a little farm land and grow there.
Had a bad experience with thinking "ah I just buy those seeds when I will grow again"...
I am one of the "AK47 victims" xD Back then I thought to buy more seeds but in the end decided that they would also be available later.
Big mistake..
Don't intend on doing that again so that's why I just got all or close to all the strains I am really interested in now.
I don't intend to order any more in the foreseeable future and built this seed stash with the move abroad in mind, where I will make sure I have more space to grow and can grow outdoor too.
Then I shall pop all of these babies ;)
