Yes Take cares "overthere" hope the best for you..you have had bad wheather enough.
Uck-think be much stoned and suddenly a hurricane or so cames..think i would be a bit noia-if..take care CG and others !

Yeah I was wondering when someone would start a thread like this, I wanted to but with my name and all I didn't want to jinx anything! :D Let's just say losing power would suck hard, especially for days, and especially when I can't keep a generator running at night since we can't sleep that way! I am like in a gray area between "moderate to massive" and "sporadic" power outages, I hope we fall into sporadic and the sporadic part is somewhere else! :D I feel for anyone affected by this, and hope everyone gets through it good. peace

I hope that all of my fellow indoor growers in the path of carnage don't lose power for too long! Maybe rigging up some kind of small battery powered back-up lights would be a good idea, if a generator isn't available. Gotta keep that light cycle going somehow. Best of luck guys.

Yeah, the power loss aspect is really shitty right now. I was just about to start flowering this weekend but think I'm gonna wait it out and wait til Wed/Thurs instead. Damn you, Sandy.

Sandy Rescue

Sandy Rescue

OK folks, here's the first feel-good rescue story of the Hurricane season.

It was dark and I was just outside on my ground floor patio moving a lot of heavy boxes and a rug from the open side to the semi enclosed side of the patio.

There is a wooded area a couple of yards away where a feral cat sometimes hangs out. I had seen her around recently so made up a nice, warm comfy airline crate with access to food and water and all protected under the stuff I had just moved.

In the now empty area where the boxes were was a lot of dead leaves. There was no logical reason to check on anything there but I compulsively went over anyhow and what do I find in the clumps of leaves but 4 three week old kittens!!!!:D

It feels so good to know that they'll all be safe and secure while we wait out the storm.:cathug:

Pretty late in the season

I was quite surprised myself as she had 4 almost identical kittens during the summer.

...... but this will work out as I wanted to be able to get her in a carrier to take her to the vet and get her fixed. With the kittens already in the carrier it will be a done deal for all of 'em when the time is right..

Hey, I'm off work tomorrow - place has shut down. Most likely off Tuesday as well.:woohoo:

The Media is really starting to hype the Superstorm now, its' effects are suppossed to reach 800 miles inland.:ying:

...... so what happens if the widespread expected power outages prevent a large segment of the population from voting Nov. 6th?

There are a lot of Blue states in that demographic.:chin:

The wind is starting to roar since I woke at 5am. I'm west of NYC in the hills and the thought of 7-10 days (emergency services tells to expect) will most def suck. My generater burned up last year during Irene and never got around to getting another....damn.

Run for your lives!!!

The last time I was in a hurricane we lost power for a week. We were the lucky ones. Some people had no power for a month. The most precious commodity was ICE. We could not get ice anywhere. Good luck and stay safe.

its looking like its gonna be bad. I dont know what to expect. Never seen one come that far inland. Im in NW Pa, but its looking like itll reach us. If it doesnt the flooding from the North, will definitely run into the flood plan we all live on. Its been raining for days, and its already over saturated out here.. Cant even imagine what its gonna look like when all the water comes flooding through. What worries me is that not long ago we had a storm like this and they predicted dire consequences.. That storm wasnt so bad, but here comes another one with the same outlook. People are taking it as hype, and saying its not so bad.. Thats the same thing that happened in the south during Katrina.

Ive been hearing for years, that New York City is going to be under water in my life time. A college scholar told me " if you ever get a chance to visit NYC, you should, B/c the city will be under water in your lifetime."
Something about this storm makes me very uneasy. The projected path is almost impossible. Several old timers, have told me, "Ive never seen something like this before". Ive been watching the weather very closely over the last couple years, looking into cloud seeding, and weather modification. Theres no doubt in my mind we have the ability to control weather, and this storm seems man made to me. Its too perfect. Weve had several storms targeting us since early spring, through tornado season, all of hurricane season, and they all run the same route. Getting closer and closer to the major cities, and they seem to be pin pointing until eventually they made direct hit into populated areas. The storms are getting more and more severe, affecting more and more people. Theres no doubt about that.

I hope everyone has the sense to prepare for this one, and everyone has shelter available to them and their families. Be safe everyone, Ive got my fingers crossed we dont lose power for any amount of time. I dont have the money for a generator. Im trying to hustle up some right now to fill the cars and cans with gas, and get some non perishable foods in the house before tonight. Best of luck to everyone.

Took a walk down to the beach. Wind isnt too bad yet but it is picking up. Id say we are getting 40-50 mph easterly gusts right now with some rain mixed in. They say we can expect up to 100 mph winds by this evening.
A couple photos.
