HEPA filters for odor neutralization?

Malcolm

So I have allergy problems and one way to deal with that is get a HEPA air filter to reduce air borne allergens in my home. I could even potentially get insurance to cover part of it. Many HEPA filters are supposed to neutralize odors and I was wondering if anyone knows how effective they are when it comes to cannabis.

Thanks!

they are hella expensive, but a ture 99.99999% hepa filter will help alot with odor, but IMO it wont scrub and remove the odors like carbon does. If insutrance will cover it go ape shit with the HEAP!!

Thanks for the swift reply. There are HEPA filters that have carbon in them so I guess that would be the best choice.

I have a HEPA filter with carbon and UV in it.. it hardly controls odor at all. Fact of the matter is that there is hardly any carbon at all in it.

Its no replacement for ozone or a carbon filter.

hepa filters and hepa filters enhanced with a layer of carbon are worthless for odor control. You can take a hepa system and diy make a full carbon filter to replace the hepa filter and it works in a recirculating fashion, but not an inline fashion. There are a couple of threads on that around here somewhere.

at my dads house we had a 'whole-house' hepa filter installed(like 1500-2k back in 97) and it gave the air a.... 'ozone' type smell... ours was an electric honeywell model. it worked really good but it has metalic screen that need cleaning (like the ionic breeze) it worked moderately well on smell, althought i didnt smoke or know what weed was at the time, i did notice it removed the oily kichen cooking smell and when things would burn in the oven it would neutralize the smoke really well. it think it would help, but its not a 100%, get a small can 33 or can50 with a cheap 4" or 6" inline/mixflow fan to cover what the hepa misses.
