hempy style idea/question

So i was doing a little research on the hempy style grow. I saw some growers growing in relatively small pots but getting decent or over achieved yields. I was wondering how would setting up some 5 gal buckets hempy style and then setting up the lights vertically would work?

Has that ever been done before?

I know folks that use the hempy style system they usually do it in small buckets, usually 3 gals the most. But would yield double with 5 gal especially when having the lights hanging vertically?

I have 2 600w ballast but was thinking about upgrading to a 1000w.

Opinions and feedback are gladly appreciated.

In my personal experience....5 gal or even 3 gal buckets just dont work as well. I think its because you dont have too many roots hitting the reservoir in a container that size. its very easy to get root rot with such a large container as that res in the bottom will fill up and wick up through the rest of the pot and stay damp while roots are still making there way to the res and this will cause root rot.

I personally believe 2liter, old soda bottles, or small 1 gal buckets do the best. And believe it or not, you can get huge trees in such a small container. I run 2l hempys and depending on strain, have pulled a little over 3 oz off a single plant using only a 400w hps, vertically.

I think it has something to do with the plant to medium ratio, when the plant can fill most of the container with roots is when i have my best results.
