Hemp utilized as alternative construction material in UK

Now I wonder where they Got that idea.?

The UK’s Building Research Establishment Centre for Innovative Construction Materials at the University of Bath had just inaugurated a £740,000 venture, financed by construction businesses and the UK government, to develop and study the use of hemp as alternative building construction material. The new study was based from the findings of a French archaeologist who discovered a sixth-century-old stone bridge that had used hemp as mortar.

Cultivated for thousands of years, the durable fibre is mostly used to make ropes and textiles. Currently, hemp is processed for use in constructions.

Lets hope the big construction companies support these measures. In many ways the UK citizens are fed a diet of misinformation by the authorities but to study the feasibility of using Hemp trumps even the USA as they have not gone down this road. Looks like a letter to the man is needed now showing support for this.

Considering its the strongest plant on earth its worth using...
Back in the day it was illegal to grow hemp plants, but whenever there was a war & resources were down, cotton, paper etc... they'd ask people to grow as much as they can!
I once heard that one fully grown hemp plant can provide twice as much paper compared to a tree, it also stronger, more durable & longer lasting than cotton.

If I'm right, a company in italy makes isolation material out of hemp. Probably a good alternative to the itchy synthetic fiber isolation crap.
