...yeah, if your only issue is the color of the bud then maybe you're worrying about nothing, believe me, in certain genepools red bud is common.

Do other plants of the same variety have the same color as the one in the photo? If not, then something is amiss, and I -might- agree with the bud rot assessment, depending on whether or not the thing easily fragments or falls to pieces when handled or tugged on.

If the other plants of the same variety all have the coloration your pic shows, and none of the others of different variety, then it might be just the genetics, as was also asserted.

Is the greenhouse well ventilated?

In unrelated but similar diagnosis of issues, I've seen early forming buds develop darkening prematurely to the pistils when the plants are over-fed.

Good luck.:tiphat:

But this occurs primarily in the tips of the pistils... he meant to say... before he hit "post" without deeper thought....

As stated earlier (or maybe I -meant- to state earlier?), the premature darkening of pistils I've seen in the past has been mostly restricted to the tips of the pistils, and related to over-feeding.

Looking at the pervasive nature, either they had a WAY-TOO-BIG dinner of dynamite nutes, or you should check one more time to see if the buds fragment really easily when tugged on. 'Cause it looks a lot more like a thorough, pervasive bud rot in the image.

Without 'fondling it', it's more difficult for me to say.

No wispy, webby type stuff among the pistils/buds as would often be found in bud rot??

I once opened up an area I'd checked daily, (and apparently had missed the early onset due to a super-cropping format/crowdedness) and an entire corner had brown nightmarish stuff happening pervasively on one corner of the area, a -bit- similar to your photo. But the leaves nearest the rot were affected too, not just the buds in that case. And that involved a combination of over-feeding and pervasive rot in a couple plants.

Please do post follow-up pics, as my curiosity is piqued now.

Thanks moose over fed it is I'll try to post pics if I can correct it...

The pistils do look a little strange. I'd rip a few buds open and inspect for frass and/or mold just to be sure.
