Hey all, I am an idiot and made a terrible mistake that I should have know better. I am growing Barneys Farm Red Diesel and Seedsmans White Widow with a 150 HPS. My first mistake was buy shitty hyponex soil, second mistake was mixing that soil with my old soil from some previous grows and I did about 3 years ago. I did add plenty of perlite to the mix so drainage is fine, but the plants are not happy. My third mistake was putting way to much dolomite lime in the mix. The plants at first seemed to be doing great and I was about to flower in a couple of weeks. Now they are going down hill. Even when I water with 6.0 PH water my runoff is about 8 or so. NOt good. I know they will never make it in this soil. My question...How can I get the plants out of this soil and put in a new soil mix. Should I remove them from pots and soak roots in warm bath water to loosen dirt and then place in new soil? The plants are about one month old and about a week ago they just started to look sick. They look like overwatering but they are not. I'll post a pic if needed, but I know my soil is shit and I need to get them out of it asap. Thank you for your help

Try taking the whole rootball, soil and all, out of the pot and put in a container(large enough to hold it of course) filled with room temperature water. Swish it around a little. Be very gentle, the roots are very sensitive. Then put the root system into your new pot and back fill with soil mix.

Thanks, soil mix ?

Thanks, soil mix ?

Thanks for the reply. I now am going to make a new soil mix and do what you have suggested in a few days. I've looked all over my area for soil and about the best I can find is MG Organic Potting Mix or Jungle Growth. I have purchase the MG Organic Potting Mix because it had the lowest amount of nutes in it. I also purchased peat, perlite, bone meal, blood meal and dolomite lime. I was planning on making a mix consisting of these incredients. How does this sound? Any recommended ratios?

MG grow organic isnt the best soil out there either... but if its all thats available make sure you add plenty of perlite. It has a deffinite drainage problem. A little vermiculite may help to too.

Go easy on additives and dont add to much peat It seems to have quite a bit already.

When I used MG organic soil it seemed to want to repel water, but became compacted once saturated.

Soil suggestions?

Soil suggestions?

I have yet to open the MG Soil so I could probably take it back. My soil selection is not so great here, but I could find something else if someone has some other suggestions on a soil that I could use instead that is widley available. I've looked for fox farm ocean forest and cannot find that anywhere. Any other suggestion on something I may find at a place like walmart, lowes, etc...? Would one of the other MG soils be better than organic mix, such as moisture control?
