I have been growing since the early seventys. Never had a problem like this. My seedlings are all stunted and yellow. I am using good potting soil, I have tried sun and lights. Minimum bug stuff. Am I watering too much maybe? Is it possible my old halide has too many hours on it? It is still very bright. Thanks for helping out

If your soil is preferted your seedlings are suffering from nute burn. For the first 10 days or so they should be in plain unferted potting soil with 30% perlite added.

Repot them to plain potting soil with added perlite.

Your bulb should be changed at least once a year, every 4 - 5 grows or so. It'll burn bright when its old, but will have a loss of lux/lumens which will affect your plants.

Thanks. That makes sense. I always used plain dirt from my garden. Switched to potting soil. Probably watering too much too! Retired, too muck time on my hands.

lol i see you already got advise, i would just like to add i once had this happen when i tried using what i thought was "good organic" soil my lil ones stayed at 1 inch and yellowed up for about a month or so.

Then i changed their soil to promix and they perked right back up, was too many nutes in the soil or somthing that they sure didnt like.

I hope ya get your problem sorted oldowl :) best wishes go out your way

hey owl...plain dirt isn't good either...we don't want to go from one extreme to the other  Just get some regular potting soil which hasn't been enriched with fertilizers, and mix it with 30% perlite and you're set  Do that ASAP so as not to kill or seriously stunt your seedlings. When you repot make sure you remove as much of the old soil as possible, with GREAT care as your seedlings are all the more delicate now that they've been a bit abused.Happy growing
