help with used scrubber

Someone just gave me a used carbon scrubber. I have an odder issue so Id like to refill it. the top is removable and I don't mined the messy job. man this thing is pretty big and heavy! there must be 50-60 pounds of carbon in there!!!

anyone know where i can get carbon in bulk?

NOT a recommendation but 27 LBs for $53 sounds a lot better even with the $30 shipping.

I've only purchased new carbon filters, never refilled them.

Do they work as well even if you refill them yourself and you don't have a vibrating thing to pack the carbon down?

Also, if it's $53 + $30 shipping for 27 lbs, that is more expensive than just buying a new can filter. With shipping it would cost $378 to refill a Can 150 (it has 123 lbs. of carbon).
