Help with Small footprint, big height grow space.

So I'm in a pretty small flat, not a ton of sq footage to work with. I can probably talk the SO into a 2x4 space or similar in the closet. The one positive is that I have about 12-13' vertical to work with, which had me running with some over/under veg/bloom areas to save square footage.

Anyone in a similar situation who has had luck? access to the canopy at the top might be only by a small stool or ladder, but other than heat distribution, don't see any real reason why this wouldn't work.

I was thinking about doing a 600w HPS in the bloom tent and maybe some CFL or t-5 lighting for the veg space. Was hoping to get away with one exhaust fan pulling through the whole thing as well as a cool hood or cool tube reflector.

Was also entertaining the idea of using two LED panels ~150w to the wall each so I could do two decent sized girls in there and not always on the same schedule.

Newb here just looking for a little advice, any ideas would be helpful.
Thanks

Your veg space only needs to be 20-25% the size of your flowering area. Veg with some t5s of cfls in a cupboard or in a rubbermaid tote somewhere else and save your closet flowering. A separate exhaust fan would only run you $20, and light leaks might become an issue otherwise.

Being that your flower room is 12' tall, I would recommend looking into vertical scrogs and stacked vertical cool tubes like ganjourno.

I too would suggest looking into vertical scrogs, Marlo's Wall of Weed was the first set up to come to mind. I would start there for inspiration. Also, if you have that much headroom then you would might also consider stacking either 2 400s or 600s.

I'm not at all opposed to using HID, but considering the depth of the space i'm not sure I have the space to go vert. Really possible to have 24" total depth?

This would give you 3' of growth from screen to cooltube and 24 square feet of canopy. You could probably double your yield if you'd expand a just a liittle bit, but .. gotta work with what you got. GL!

I would buy 4 4bulb 2'x4 t5 light fixtures, put them in a cabinet mounted vertically and put one plant in the middle.

I'd veg that plant to be thin and tall and then blast it with the full 864 watts.

You could also buy 2 bulb fixtures and cut the wattage in half which would probably make more sense

A lot depends on how much you want to fuss with it in the long run. Just because you have a lot of headroom doesn't mean you can use it productively w/o a lot of that.

The easy answer would be a single 315w CMH system & conventional grow style, use the extra height just to help dissipate the heat by putting the charcoal filter & fan up high & the air intake down low. I wouldn't go past 400w of anything in a space that small because dissipating the heat turns into a really big issue. 315's outperform all but the best LED systems & cost a lot less if more than conventional HID. They'll pay for themselves over time, the break even point being determined by your electric rate. The extra height makes it easy to do hydro over a reservoir if you want.

I use twin 315's in a space basically 4x4 to flower 6 plants. Well, when I get 6 females from 12 seeds. Works great. Check the pics in my albums. I sometimes veg in a smaller separate area but mostly just start seeds when I harvest. You could readily get 3 the same easy way, weave a scrog or do more plants using a 12/12 method.
