Help with Nutes, going to get some but am clueless

Well Ive decided to make the trip to a hydroponic shop a hour and a half away this morning. Good looking site www.fifthseasongardening.com

I am clueless on how to pick out nutrients and I don't understand how they work either. they have all kinds of different nutes, which ones to choose?
I am looking and they all share a common thing like for example this florabloom is (2-1-6) (0-5-4) (5-0-1) I know that means nitrogen, potassium, and phosphorus. But I just don't understand how they work. Shouldn't it be like "(2-0-0) (0-4-0) (0-0-3) example"

I am clueless all I know is I am getting FFOF soil for sure, so if i can get any help or suggestions that would be great

I would recommend the Botanicare PureBlendPro lineup for beginners, you'll need three bottled total.

you will kick ass with these 3 in soil, it is organic based but works in hydro if you chose to move on to that.
It is also self adjusting ph wise, you won't need to adjust ph at all especially when us the LKarma, nute ph drops to low 6's when mixed.
Add 30% perlite to your FF soil and use these nutes during the appropriate stages and use a quality water source and you will be rocking nice buds in no time.

edit: in case it wasn't clear in my post during veg you use PBPro veg and LK, in flowering you need PBPro bloom for soil and LK, simple as that.

Hoo ray I went and got a quart of each total of 60 bucks!. Now when can I start feeding them to my plants. I know with fertilizers you should wait until the bottom 2 leaves fall off what about hydro nutes?

Start on a weak dose of the veg, use the seedling amount on the bottle and work you way up, you can use less every feeding of more and feed every 2-3 waterings.

Pureblend pro is great for beginners. You will eventually get used to fertilizing your plants and move to other nutes as you gain more growing experience. I would do as Suby said and feed low doses until you see your plants need more food. I know that pbp is kinda diluted already so feed as you wish once you get the hang of it. Make sure you get a ph meter at least if you are going to the dro store. More important then nutes imo.

and for this first run i'm thinking the foxfarm soil feeding schedule is aight.
