Help with my soil mix, is it lacking?

Hey all,

try posting in organic forum but no help.(do i smell of something?lol jk.)

I am trying to stay organic as much as possible and i want to get the most out of my soil for my girls(blue dream,b.Hawaiian,white rhino,bag seed).

the plan is to veg up and come flower time I am doing a combo of in and outside growing. (p.s. I have a low budget but still If the gurlz need it I will get it)

Here is my mix as it is now:

3 parts-FF light warrior
2 parts-humus/manure (chicken,cow)
1.5 parts-perlite
2tsp per 1gal. -happy frog jump start 3-4-3
1tsp per gal. plant tone (optional)
1 1/2tsp pulverized dolomite lime

(this is what my plant are in at the moment)"veg"
I water with rain water and make a "weak" tea out of the jump start.

What would you suggest i add/remove to the mix for veg. and flower? Any help is greatly appreciated.

I was think on adding some of my own soil from my worm farm, my local soil is a combo of clay and leave and veg compost i dig in it with a trowel and 10+ worms are in each scoop.(worried about the bad stuff in it if any"

also i am in the process of finding some thing for supplemental feeding any advise?

your mixture sounds good, the worm humus with clay inside sounds like a perfect supplement,
you might not need much more, but for long term fertilizer i may suggest also animal horn
thats gives nitrogen through out the whole year if you are growing outdoors for example.
you also get ground horn which converts faster which you might use for indoors,
but it might stink a little so better for outside.


otherwise you seem well equipped,
so not much to add from my part.

Soil test...as little as $10 and you will definitively know what is there--and what is not. IMHO, no reason to guess if you can afford to get the "real facts".

Thanks Asche, now with the worm ewc and clay as a "supplement" do you mean as a tea or in the mix?

And also what is and where do you find animal/ground horn, I never heard of it, not surprised i live in the sticks

hmm about the horn, i come from austria its a common way to fertilize your soil
for long term matters, i really cant promise you that you might find it but then again
animal horn you sure get at the slaughter house if not in a soil supplemental store

humus and clay is good, clay holds the moist a little longer i believe
and worm humus is very nutritious, combined with perlite, that should be all you need

you also have dolomite lime, well clay contains lime, so the question is do you need that
but i am not an expert, i would love to hear somebody having more experience with that.

I think there might be a equal to animal horn here in the states, thanks for the info. Asche, as far as the lime and the clay. I add lime to the mix that has no clay but i was pondering that i might still add lime with clay but at 1/4 ratio. when making up the mix i am running now i add lime to the humus/manure/nutes (so the lime is where it needs to "work") mix that and then mix in with the light warrior/perlite.

I am also looking for some teas that would work with my mix to maximize its effectiveness. molasses? to feed the lil guys that help feed the girls. ( forgot their name)(stoned)

sorry for bending your ear, just try to find more info. from experienced people. I've grow before and have a tinted green thumb but there is SO much good info. on here that it makes ur head spin and start to second guess your self.

Hi Hicksticky,

an addition of lithothamne for veg and flo would be appreciated by the plant and wood ashes are rich in potassium for flo. that plus the cow manure should be enough.
chicken manure could be used on its own for veg time (not over 5% of the total weight of the mix/soil)
all nutricious elements can be mixed in soil but as long as you do not prepare your container filled up with your mix a little while before transplanting your plant in there there isn't much interest.
Bacterias will be in your mix in large enough numbers after at least two weeks naturally and in one week or less when you add a well made compost tea and they ll be the one breaking down elements to make them usable by the plants,so letting a little time before using your container is a must, i insist about the mix being in the container to not drown aeorobic bacterias into the mix.

Why FF light warrior and not FF ocean forest? I add to much stuff and somethings bound to go wrong so i like to go with a simple mix. Keep it simple. hope it all works out for ya.
