pillbug.jpg

I am currently using an ebb and flow system with 12 plants. They are in transition stage. I have 8x10 Room with with an L section that is 6x5. The L section has 2 8 bank t5's and the 8x10 has 2 1000 MH one blue on red. I have pineapple and AK growing ranging from 2ft to 5 ft. my growing medium is hydroton. Theyare on a 30minute on and water 4x's daily.

Yesterday I found small white Larve looking bugs in my water and then tonight I found the above bug in the water in the growing medium.

I applied h2o2 tonight to each plant while in between cycles.

Did I do right? I have always called these potato bugs but all pics and references to potato bugs did not look like this.

Any help would be great. I am on the coast so dampness is always an issue for me.

I have called it that too but still couldn't find any help? Have you ever seen it in a hydro system? actually in the hydroton. I have dealt with a lot of issues here but have not seen this before.

Thats a sow bug, it,s not going to hurt much. The larve in your water could be lice, but i'm a soil guy so you will have to wait for the hydro pros.

well those things breed pretty quickly and their young are white so thats what may be floating in your res. But what their doing in a hydro grow is way beyond me. crazy little pill bugs.

It's Crazy! Thanks for the confirmation on the type of bug. I waited until I was on a complete drain cycle and then water each one from the top with H2O2 and it has stopped them in their tracks. Also upped the de-humidifier.
Thanks for responding. Love this site

I am struggling with the damp environment. The things that seem to be happening to me are crazy and wierd. I am really glad that I found this site! It has been a tremendous help.
