Help with heating issues

Hey yall i need help with the heat in my room. i just switched to 12/12 two days ago and put them under a 250w hps, couldn't look at them last night but when i saw them this morning, 4 out 14 were drooped over with crispy leaves and some had a few crispers but their fine, the rest are looking good. i watered them asap and im sure theyll come back to life (already had one seedling do this from underwatering and it came back with flying colors). anyways the temp during the day is around 86F and 77F at night. way to high i know this is way the cups dried out so fast, i was watering every 4 days so water one day don't water for two then water the next day... i have a powerful fan going but it doesn't stop the heat. i also had the babies too close to the light so i dropped them 2 feet, they're now 3 ft from the light. how much of a temp drop would i get if i put the glass part on the light and got the air-cooled fitting. (haven't done that yet ) my humidity is between 25%-32%, ive got mandala's speedqueen and sadhu (good newb plants). any thoughts would be awesome and thanks for all the help in advance peaceout~red

yup the four droopy ones perked right back up after a little water, but im still gonna have some leaf loss on the bottom nodes, top leaves all look good. i put some bowls under them (drip trays) and put a little water in so hopefully this mistake won't happen again. im still gonna have trouble with heat, especially when i actually make my micro grow box for flowering ( im gonna have to have the plants a foot away from the lights then). for now they're in a closet. at least my veg box is good cfls don't give off too much heat. thanks again~red

hmm.. lets see, got ventilation? how close is the bulb to the plants? a 250w in a closet should be fine, unless theres space issues. its probably a combo of 1 or 2 above possibilities...

Definitely use the glass and the air cooled. This is a must. Probably drop 5 - 8 degrees. If you can, get the ballast out of the grow area too.

Try running the lights at night when it's cooler - then off during the day, when it's warmer anyway. Works for me, maybe you too.

thanks solarT i think it's funny (strange) how i always find the right threads after i have posted my thread concerning my issue, lowering the lights switched the canopy temp to just below 80F once i get the mini glass piece and the air cooled fitting on i should be able to get my babies a lot closer. also i need to set up a grow box, i was thinking 2 1/2x 2 1/2x4 only one prob, i need help with the ventilation system. i think i sorta know what to do but is there any thread that will tell me (in lamens terms) how to build a ventilation system. (i got the carbon scrubber down) thanks in advance and peaceout~red

sorry about the spelling LoL yeah something that explains in in "stupid people" terms and yeah im good on the heat, my top heat was only 79F, a little work and i'll be good to go. next grow will definately be lights on at night, just need to perfect my technique before i start my difficult babies (DSD, trainwreck, c99, blockhead, jack herer x white rino) cheers ~ red

but ya kinda maybe ought let folks know you found an answer befor my slow assed fingers have to find the right lil buttons in the right order - know what I mean? afterwards is soooooo -,,,, well,, shitty really makes it kinda enjouable to give some back.

I'll be doin a hydro grow soon - I'll start a new thread - you bet your sweet ass,but I'll be following a couple threads when I set up. (hint - that will usually get some good helpers/tutor/mentor types, not ones named blackvelvet that don't grow yet sound real convincing.


It's pretty simple really, but there's a lot to learn; teachers here are free but some are overprriced at that

thanks SolarT and i apologize for not letting you know misunderstood your typing, i was being sarcastic when i said petty. i've definately learned that alot of factors have to be kept in check in order to achieve the bomb diggity. ive still got a lot to learn though (obviously) thanks again peaceout~red
