HELP-Vaportek 4000 not cutting it

i only have 5 plants, ice cream by paradise. they are alittle over 5 weeks. just switched to 12/12. they are in a tent in laundery part of basement. excellent air flow and movement through tent. when i stick my head in tent i barely, sometimes not at all, smell any weed smell. i use a vaportek 4000 for odor. it is now set at 7 out of 10. i use the classic neutral cartridge. i smell that normal bubble gum smell of VT plus a mix of weed in basement, and even sometimes upstairs. dont know how since in tent it doesn't stink. the VT is right outside and above tent. on a shelf right next to both exhaust ports. i also have 2 glade plug in fresheners in other part of basement. i'm thinking of maybe adding the small vaportronic to put outside laundery room in other part of basement. u smell it most outside laundery room. there are only louvered doors seperating laundery room from rest of basement. temp in tent is 70-78, humidity is about 45-55% now. i'm also thinking maybe a dehumidifier may help cut down on scent if room is drier... :badday: or maybe i should only run 1 exhaust fan.... :fsu:
any advice would be appreciated. thanks. :joint:

because carbon scrubbers are LOUD. something i cannot have, and VT are supposedely best and QUIET...
alot use VT alone with success, including rez, who relies heavy on them and grows alot of stinky shit....

my basement is extremely air tight...i guess that has something to do w/ it....

Just be prepared to explain away the smell of the VaporTek. Because even with the neutral cartridge you are going to have some blow back. I was lucky we had a bunch of cats and my wife smoked so I used that excuse.

i mean the fans on the scrubbers are loud, yeah, i use 2 4" axial 120cfm fans at top of tent, also like 16" of passive intake holes. since both fans are blowing at VT, i was thinking maybe i should move it or turn 1 fan off so only 1 blows at it. maybe it's too much at once for the VT to take care of....just a thought.

If you got yer VT turned up close ta 10 and yer not -tasting- it, yer cartridge needs changed. Be sure when ya buya new one that it hasn't been sittin on the shelf ferever. Good luck! Take care...BC

Very interesting thread.......Vin I can see ur concerns man im in the same boat....my small cab has to be as stealthy as possible and the noise from an inline fan is a total give away...So the vaportek and vaportronic is the way for me too...But curious as to how people are putting them inside there grow cabs? withought it effecting the plants....But from what I gathered I think the safest way is to get the vaportronic for the inside of the tent and run a vaportek on the outside near the tent....

Try putting the vaportek or vaportronic in front of the exaust if you have any, in the room my vaportronic dosent smell at all, but when i place it in the exaust you can really smell it. So if you exaust, and your room is sealed. try it

or a big blue ozone ball, works well...but carbon scrubber set up correctly is foolproof. Get a panasonic whisper fan if sound is an issue. can't have the whole house smelling of live buds!

i have the 2 exhaust fans directed towards VT up on shelf. i'm wondering if there's too much blowing on it for it to handle. i think i'm gonna try putting it inside if it will fit, AND add a vaportronic outside grow room.

i just moved it to inside of tent, feel alittle better now, will see if it makes a difference, and i ordered a new 120 day cartridge and a vaportronic for outside grow room.

holy shit...smell is about 90% gone. it's in tent, still set at 8. i think after tomorrow i'll be able to turn down and not even need the vaportronic, but better safe than sorry. :joint:

That's good news. I've had mine in my cabinet from the start but I also use a carbon filter for that extra measure of protection. I'm considering a vaportronic for the drying curing area.
