Help! Something in my Soil! (pictures)

Hi, I found these little bastards in my soil and under the pots when I move them. They don't seem to be on the plant itself. Any idea what they are?

Thanks!

I thought they were fungus gnats at first but after looking at pictures they don't seem to be the same - my guys don't seem to have wings for one...

It looks like a root wievel, I had them in rockwool, saw them during high water in the ebb and flow tray. So I filled the tray and hundreds came out of the roots, then took them into something deeper and hundreds more came out, never got rid of them, they killed all plants, I quit growing for quite a while. Kept one sample for quite a while then got a card from state agriculture department in the mail warning of a similar root wievel, but much smaller than mine. Good luck with that. Thanks for the memories, I'll go spray something strong all over the back yard. I hate those things.

Well if it's root weevil then I'm screwed, they are on plants about to be flipped. Did a google image search and they're definitely the closest match but it says weevils have tube-like proboscis for their mouth for sucking out of plants. Anyone know a good website that specialises in identifying insects? Tried a few but no joy yet. Forgot to mention that this is UK not America. (should've mentioned that earlier - weed eh? terrible for the memory...)

Springtails???
Let's hope so unclefishstick. Apparently they're harmless, eating dead vegetation. Have you had Springtails before? Did an image search for Springtails and they definitely look more like them than the Weevils.
Thanks for the whatsthatbug.com link HydroFarmer, already sent them a query so waiting to hear back. Will post back when I get some definite I.D.
