HELP seedling problem

At night time one of my plants was looking fine. Its at 7 days and it still had that little clear shell thing it had to break out of. And in the morning I went to check on it and two of the leafys were gone and two of the other leafs were barely hanging on but no chance to regrow. The whole bulb was gone with only the stem left. Anyone know wat could've happened? I grew it outdoors so could it be some type of bug? I wish I had a picture to show, it would be alot easier. :badday: :badday:

Something munched on your seedling for sure. I think Slugs, but could have been anything really, earwigs, deer, rabbits, antelope...etc. My suggestion is to grow the seedlings indoors until they are big enough to withstand some of the pests out there, then plant them outdoors. There are other threads you can search to help fight off outdoor pests, like urinating around your grow, or leaving human hair around it, there are store bought solutions as well.

Hope that helps a bit.

Thanks alot brownpants that really helped. I decided to move the plants to another area until it got bigger. This is the death of my second plant and another plant I have has a missing leaf but I know now that it was bugs. By any chance does it have a chance to regrow with only the stem left?

Seedlings are really delicate and vulnerable. The munched on ones will not grow back. They need the leaves and grow tip at that stage to survive.

i agree mate, your not going to get much growth at all with just a poor stem.
try raising your seeds indoors under flouro light first to help harden them up, before whaking them outside that may help.

New quick question

New quick question

I had another quick problem about my seedlings. They are around a week from sprouting and they have grown their first pair of leaves. I can see their next pair of leaves growing but its growing so slowly, about half a cm in two days. Is this normal or is their growth being stunted somehow? Just a worried noobie. :biglaugh:

invest in some snail and slug bait/killer.

I lost about 6 seedlings outdoors this year to snails.....I smashed about ten of those fuckers against my fence when I found em in my garden. Not a pretty sight *lol*
I put down the bait/killer after that and didn't have any problems from that point on.

Nothing sucks worse then going out to check on your garden and finding leafless stems sticking outta the soil
:yoinks:

Hahaha those snails are evil! I come outside at around 1 in the morning and they are all over the place! For the time being I just put some table salt around my pots hehe. Makes those little suckers melt :sasmokin:

YOu are WICKED!!!

I used to do that too, drown the slugs with salt. Rather gross actually...
