Hello everyone I am hoping someone with a little more knowledge in HVAC than me can chime in and help me out. I am decent at math but anyone who is decent at math knows that you are nothing without knowing the formula you have to use. This is where I am stuck...
I have a 6" Vortex fan. Rated at just about 450 CFM. I have a 6x24" Phresh Filter rated at 550 CFM and per Vortex's reccomendation, I purchased a Dial a temp speed controller for my fan. I want to know how many CFM's I can expect after I install the carbon filter and if I were to dial my fan down all the way to the lowest setting? Also there will be a few short lengths of ducts and a few turns which I know will decrease CFM's as well.
Main reason I am asking is because I purchased new equipment for an upgrade and everyone told me, get the 6" fan for when you want to upgrade again, it leaves you with room for expansion. And they were right but my current cab is going to be exhausted somewhere between 10-15x A MINUTE! This is way too much from what everyone has been telling me. So I want to find out how many CFM's I really am going to have when it is all said and done and then design my new room around that number... I don't want to go any bigger than I absolutely have too though.
