this is my seriously poor mans grow, i am an og refugee, and finnaly got batts for my camera, the plant is Pineapple from california, log story short, it is on day 15 in flower 12 on 12 off, and was wondering if anyone could tell me what this is on my leaf, a mold? a burn? i had the lamp less that 12 inches from the plant, but have raised it up to about 24 in away sience then... fertilizer is approx 50 earthworms... the white spots on the leaves are from my hard water. but if you look closley, there are brown spotts on the leaf in the middle, and on the right and some others are looking like they want to do the same, it is only hapening to the new growth on top... thanks a bunch, check out my other post to see my Seriously poor mans grow.

here is a pic of my set up, milk carton holds 250w MH lamp, transformer + Capacitor, with a reflector and a fan for exhaust, it is held up by some nylon rope, and i use soda bottles to raise it up when it needs to be (see pic) total amount of money spent 30 dollars on lamp and porcelian base (i am an electrition so i had the transformer and cap) anyways the ferts on the plant are just earthworms, and earthworms only (my grandmother swears by them) and the soil is decomposed oak leaves...

You sure about those white spots are from hard water? Unfortunately it's usually spider mites that make this kind of marks on leaves. Take a look underneath the leaves, if you find very tiny light dark to dark creatures there, then you're in for an mite infection I'm afraid. I hope I'm wrong.

thanks KOV ya i am sure it is from the hard water, (you should see my drinking glasses) i worked in a green house for a a couple years, and have seen tons of spider mites and pests and am more than prepared to battle them, i am more worried about the browining of the new growth, i hope it was just having the lamp to close ~6 inches
thanks a ton

p.s.(oh yeah, it has had the spots on it its whole life b/c of my water, i allready was worried about those in OG threads)

and the soil is decomposed oak leaves...

I dont like the sound of that...In all likelyhood u just need to start fertilizing with a flowering fert asap. It would be nice if u could repot them into a more conventional store bought potting soil but since u r already in flower it is probably a bad idea. The fan on the upper left of the photo (brown spots with a sheen) looks like the same nute deficiency I have, more than likely early calcium deficiency. The potential for bugs is very high between the oak leaves and the castings. This far into flower it is a good idea to start fertilizing with a flowering fert. Did u spray them with ur tapwater? The white spots could easily be from water spots but could be a few other things as Kov said.

I would post it in the sick plants forum.

OK u were posting while i was...the brown spots don't look like light burn, that is isually a more pronounced brown or yellow/tan, larger in size and more obvious. It is 99% likely a nute deficit.

this fucker is healthy, i am more than positive there are no bugs, spots go away if i spray it with brita water, but then i need to adjust the PH... i will spray her down, take a pic and show you... thanks a ton for your advice, i will put it in the sick fourms if problem continues...the brown i am looking at in in the middle and right, the one on the left looks like it is about to in the photo, but i assure you it is a nice green. oak com, was strilized before put in the bucket... worms are dirty i agree, but only bugs i get are the little black flies, which i have yellow sticky pads to catch them.
THANKS A TON FOR YOUR HELP

heh, I wouldn't be worried about decomposed oak leaves, conventional potting soil from a store is mostly just that - various composted plant matter.

I would stand by spider mite theory - I had spider mites in the past, and it looks exactamente like on your leaves Colo, but if you say you got experience from working in a greenhouse...

6 inches from lamp is close, you got a glass shield between light and plant?

no glass between the light and the plant, after spraying it down with britta water i have no spots, the leaves are kind of bright green, but that is its normal colour... ONLY WORRIED ABOUT BROWN! ya i donno, this is my first grow with out my grandma looking over my shoulder.... maybe i am freaked out over nothing, i am goign to wal-mart.. stay tuned.

I think that it might be a good idea to check the PH. Leaves are very aciditic. Also, is there a lot of heat in the room and are you possibly overwatering?

ph= 5.5-6.5 every time i water.. i thought that was ok, i believe in tough love, so i let the soil get really really dry before i water it and can tell that the plant is happy once i do... temp in closet stays between 80-85 deg... to hot?

THANKS A TON

Ok my bad....sounds like the oakies are fine. The little black flies are fungus gnats and not deadly but not something u want around.

edit: pH in soil should be 6.3-6.8....7 is tolerable though. 6.5- 6.8 is best. Sounds like u are doing well with the watering (waiting for them to dry). 85 temp is too high, in soil they can handle higher heat than say hydro but that is still too high, unless u were using C02.

ya man i have the gnats under control, ya i know they are not deadly, but they are annoying as hell when you are watching TV in the same room... lol THANKS A TON!!! YOU GUYS ARE GREAT... now that i have batts, i will keep this post updated with pics...
-COLO

78.1 deg. F PH of soil - 6 (stuck a litmus strup in the dirt) only used Co2 for 1 week...

Is it just the one plant or is it all of them? It could just be the plant. Your watering is good, the ph is good and there is no mites so I would just make sure the light isnt scorching them and see how they do.....
