help on my new setup

Ok i plan on getting a Darkroom80 grow tent. dimensions are 2'8 x2'8 x5'3.

Should i go with a 400 or 250watt?

also i want to get a CMH, so if i get a regular HPS lamp with a non digital ballast it should just work right?

Can some1 recommend me a good fan for that size of a space that is also quiet.

BTW i plan on growing some Double Dutch and White widow in this setup

My 250 has me buried in weed but, a 400 is better for that size tent for max efficiency. Actually, the 400 is the tiniest bit undersized however, if you're interested in CMH, 400 is as large as they get.

A standard magnetic coil HPS ballast is required for 250 or 400 CMH. HPS lamps this size are commonly carried by Home Depot for ASAP emergency replacements.

After seeing the 250 thread im leaning towards a 250. plus i got a lot of extra 70 or 80 watt (not sure) CFLs from my last grow i can throw in for extra light.

If you don't feel the need to max the tent, a 250 is a great choice; Easier to cool, cheaper to run. Consider a slightly rectangular grow with the lamp perpendicular to the length. Say 2X2.5. Lamps throw no light fore or aft, only to the sides. As a result the footprint isn't square. Recent changes in my cab allowed me to rotate mine from parallel to perpendicular. As a result I could lower the lamp AND increase footprint at the same time.



I bought my reflector 15 years ago from a brick and mortar shop. The CMH I got from the CMH thread link. Most everything else is Home Depot, Radio Shack ... break a leg.
