Help needed: suggestions to search for mother

I haven't been on here for a long while, life has been busy. However, due to a power failure I have lost everything and need to start over. I've been wanting to try BOG's gear for some time and I just ordered 10 Blue Kush, 20 Sour Grape, and 20 Sour LSD.

I need to get back up and running asap. I generally run SOG, with 4x 400W lamps over 4x 2'x2' trays with 16 cuttings per tray. I need to find a quality mother asap.

I would prefer to do this with all hydro (because that's what I'm good at) but I know this can cause some complications (can be hard to cull males when roots are mixed together). I would be willing to use soil if I cannot come up with a good hydro solution. I'm thinking of doing two 25 plant runs, but I will only do one run if I find a quality plant to use as a mother in the first run.

So, please offer some suggestions for the most efficient way to get from seeds to a selected mother plant.

What would happen, If I just grew them all in my trays, and cut the males out by the base when they show sex, and left the roots in the table while the females finished?? This way, I could cut clones from every plant before flowering, then toss the associated male clones when the males are identified. Then I could immediately start vegging all of the female clones before the seed plants finish flowering. Then after sampling, I can cull or keep whichever ones to carry on. My main worry here is leaving the males roots in the tray to rot while the females finsih.

Thanks!

PS. I also have a room with a 250W MH for 1-4 mothers, a few t5 strips for vegging 16x freshly rooted clones, and two shelves with t8's for cloning.

Pop the seeds, veg for a few weeks, take cuttings of every single plant. When all the cuttings are rooted, throw the seed plants in flower. After they show sex, kill the males and all the clones that correspond with the males. If you are doing each plant in a basket of hydroton, it wont be a problem. Not sure what method you are using that you will have to leave the male rootballs in to finish. Thats the way I do it when popping seeds and looking for new moms.

Because I am currently set up for flood and drain in 2x2 tables. To do what you suggested, I would have to set up 25 DWC buckets. This may be viable, with a controller barrel, but without it that's 25 rez's to take care of. I'd rather not build a whole new set up unless I absolutely have too. The flood and drain tables work great for SOG.

It may just be best to do this with soil, but I'm so much more comfortable with hydro...

I've never used coco? Would I just pot em up like soil, then hand water with my hydro ferts like a manual hydro setup?

I always used hydroton in baskets in a flood and drain table. If I wanted to do a SOG, I used slightly smaller baskets and put them closer together. What kind of medium are you currently running?

I'm currently running 2x2 flood tables with 16x 2.5 inch netpots, with everything filled with hydroton. This is my flowering room, which will have to do as a veg room in my search to find a new mother. I normally do my mother in a couple DWC buckets (but I don't have enough of them for this grow from seed).

So, I know if I grow all of these seeded plants directly in my flood tables the roots will become intertwined and it will make culling males difficult.

Now, I'm kind of thinking of just putting some planting bags full of hydroton or coco in the flood tables, and changing the plumbing around for this grow so they are top fed? Most of the roots should stay in the container I would think? (with regular pots, not netpots)

Couldn't, I just fill some grow bags with hydroton, set them in the tables, and top feed with rez under the table in a recirculating fashion?
