help measuring co2 without meter

Hi guys,
I have a problem and i have been trying to figure it out but nothing.
I am helping my friend to kill mites with co2 at 15000ppm, he had tried with wash and many products, also we are in a country where not much is available so today he got the tank with gauge.
we a co2 monitor that can reach only 3000ppm and i was wondering if anybody can help calculating it.
so the grow room is 10x5x8 and the tank is outside going inside just the pipe to a fan...
in the gauge i have only the psi and the one to see how much co2 inside the tank.
so can somebody help to calculate for how long i should open the gas and at what psi to reach 10/15000 ppm to kill spider mites?
any help would be very appreciated.

First, if you go into that room with 15000 ppm, you better hold your breath the whole time. Have a buddy standing by to pull you out if need be.

If you are going to suck the CO2 in with a fan, is it going to be exhausted at the same time? If so, it won't work on mites. I've tried it, and didn't seem to get any results, but it might just have been the way I did it. I would just open the valve on the tank, and get the hell out of the room. Leave the room alone for a few hours, then evacuate the room.

I *think* you need about 5 lb, BUT google it and see what you come up with. I'm not confident about my calculations. I used this

Sounds like a recipe for failure re:death, without a controller or a remote way to exhaust the room, even just an outtake on a timer or extension cord.
 
Why use Co2 to kill them? There are many other safe ways to achieve this. I don't know where you're from but I suggest you to use an insecticide preferably organic.

You will just be wasting time and money
get a proper miticide and be done with them
FWIW 15000ppm = 1.5% total co2 LOL

yes i have outtake fan when is done, here no insecticide organic guys, i know most of the reply would have been like that...
i can't buy a controller here or a test, everything i have i import on my bag slowly slowly, nothing is available here!
so a friend of mine did it and had 100% success.... i won't be in the room of course, come on guys, and yes the room is sealed...
can i know if somebody have the equation i need pls?
i know is dangerous and all the bla bla bla...
i just need help to calculate for how long i should open the valve at what psi to reach 15000rpm....

I have seen with my own eyes a 20LB co2 tank vented off into a 8'x8'x20' sea can with the spider mites surviving just fine the next day

thanks everyone, here too i have to agree with u, i left the tank open for 1 hr plus leave one hr the full co2 inside but those fuckers are still alive... unbelievable!!! plants are too big for the typical wash with neem and soap i mostly do, with small plants is easy, but these are already too big damn it....
i will see, thanks for your help with the calculations....i appreciate it a lot...

If CO2 will kill mites, dry ice is another possible source.

The formula is
PV = nRT

P = Pressure, in atmospheres, I think.
V = Volume, in Liters
n = # moles CO2
R = .08206 L-Atmoshphere/ degree K
T = Temperature in degrees

That's from memory, might want to look some things up.

You will need the molar weight of CO2, so you can know how many moles you have. in grams per mole.

It gets more complicated when you have a partial pressure (mix of air and CO2).

It's OK to be approximate but if you're off by a factor of 10 or more ...


I've used near 100% CO2, from dry ice, to kill bugs infesting bags of grain. That worked.


I've never had a case where Safer's dips didn't help control spider mites. Up to week 2 of flowering. By dips I mean 100% dipped, submerged, completely covered.

To do the dips you need the concentrated Safer's or it gets expensive.

(Safer's = Safer's insecticidal soap.)

Are you dealing with Spider mites, or a different kind ?


One other thing about dealing with CO2. I think it helps to catch a whiff of it, enough to make you gag a little bit. Knowing mentally that's it's poisonous is different than knowing by having gotten a whiff. It's very memorable, but poisonous in a different way than many poisons.

CO2 doesn't distinguish between human growers & insect mites.


In the movie 'Prometheus', they arrive at a planet with 3% CO2, and one of the scientists says "it's like breathing on an exhaust pipe, 5 minutes in that and it will kill you".

I always wondered about that 3%.

if you can get temps in the room to 115-120F for 2 hrs you'll killem and the eggz,
when i had broadmites one of the crew here that hadem also h
he closed the room up, cut the exhaust and baked those bastids in a few hrs...
the plants were right as right afterwards.
if you ever had BMs you'll kno they are spawn of satan.
but can't take the heat, no chems or anything, just heat.
