Hey guys whats up , well my first grow White Widow by feemaleseeds.nl is about to be wrapping up , so im in the market for some new beans. Ill list what im looking for and hopefully you guys can shoot me some pics,and names of the beans. Im really interested in these purple strains, I know that sometimes just having cold temps turns buds purple, but i was wondering if there any certain strain that will just grow purple. I perfer female seeds, however it seems like the really cool genetics dont all come femm. Im looking for a really icy plant as well. well what do u guys have in mind ? hahah also I am growing micro indoors, so something that woud be decent for scrog would be perfered.

Hey Reign,

Yeah djshort is probably the way to go. Dutch passion has female lines of the flo and blueberry which are exactly what you're looking for. Unless you're looking for something that's less consistent and are just looking for a mother to clone in which case you might find something cheaper

Blue satellite 2.2 from spice of life is probably good too. But its still based on dj short genetics. Stay away from the soma stuff if you're looking for purple. Mostly you'll end up cutting the purple off when you trim 19 out of 20 females. I've grown 20 f1s and about 200 f2s of rock bud and didn't find a single plant that looked remotely like the picture a little purple in the leaves occasionally but never the red in the picture and it didn't taste remotely like an afghan. The lavender and amethyst bud aren't terrible if you're looking for a mother but you can tell he didn't put anywhere near the work that dj does and you will end up trimming off the purple. Someone should start a soma bashing thread. He's a jerk.

Here is a pic of my purple blackberry s1 all dried up... I dont think the strigh blackberry beans are still around but wallyduck has a cross for sale.
DOnt see much purple in those blockhead buds... Also lifesaver, Gsus, rainbow and a apollos mist had the most color in my last grow... PeAcE

If you're looking for all female try the dutch passion flo and blueberry they both have nice purpling in the calyx.

Purp sounds nice, but for a personal user it is of no use. Go with a inexpensive, reliable, potent strain, there are plenty of them! Ive had great success with Reefermans Cherrybomb II, and I've had my eye on the PinkKushxBlackseed and BurmaBerry (both are available on seedboutique). I think Hill Temple Collective's Power House (c99 x deepchunk) would be KILLLER and FAST!!! For a beginer, Diesel 39 by Resevoir would be easy and POTENT...... And forget the Female seeds, its like training wheels for herb, and NOW is the time to grow up. Check out Reefermans site he has more strains than listen on seedboutique............

Actually calyx is a bit of a incorrect slang term the correct word is bract but many including myself use the word calyx. Bracts are the little sheaths that house the ovaries that if pollinated turn into seed. Many strains show purple coloration on the leaves which ends up getting manicured off after harvest or if the purple on the very inner leaf is just on the top of the leaf when the plant dries it won't be visible. If the plant has purple in the bracts it will always be there after manicuring unless the purple fades a lot during the cure which sometimes happens whether the leaves are purple or the bracts.
I do agree with foxygrower though. From the breeding point of view purple is another trait so if someone breeds for purple they might end up having to sacrifice someother qualities to an extent. And as a newbie while purple is nice, quality, high, and ease of growth should be the main traits you seek. And reeferman is a great breeder. The dj short line or the dutch passion strains blueberry, flo, and blue moonshine are still all very good. I've never grown them with chemical nutrients or hydro but theyre supposed to be finnicky unless fed organics. Blue moonshine is another djshort strain that dutch passion also breeds (I don't know if available feminized) and can be extremely purple nice resin content and has a short flowering period. To me although its advertised as 50days flo is a good ten weeks.
Dj short used to sell seed directly to dutch passion who sold his seeds all over the world while dj sold in canada. After a while their contract expired and dutch passion took the remaining stock they had and continued breeding his lines without him (something I'm sure was allowed in the contract after it expired) so dutch passion dosnt sell dj's newer varieties and over the years there's becoming an increasing difference between the blueberry and flo that dj sells and what dp sells. But they're both very good.

well foxygrower, i dont have the same situation as you guys here on this site, im unforttanitly just restricted to just using my pccab for now, it was kinda a deal with my roomates, so i have no time or space to sort out males, as for the purple bud, out here you will only catch the superstars with purple bud, and is deff a wow factor, I would love to come to a party with a oz of purple buds, and have everyone wondering where i got it, because baiscly out here they call any purple bud "purple haze" and automaticly throw a 600 dollar per OZ price tag on it, now ill tell you that no one would ever think to see me with a zip of some purp. Your right tho I dont wna lose quailty for color, to be hoesnt guys comepared to the shit ive been smoking my whole life ( only dealer bud) anything is going to be way better in comparison. So yea I just want to have purple buds, it will really make me happy is that enuff to make you guys stop leading me into diff directions ? I already know a few other strains i will be growing soon, but i just wanted to try and grow up an almost positive purple strain for my next grow,btw guys ive never seen purple bud b4 in real life The only weed that Ive actuly know what it was my whole life was sour diesel, and ak48, other than that ive never known what i got id ask the dealer and he would just automaticaly say it's haze when its forshure not.Also this mite sound odd, but I really want my mother to understand my weed growing, shes doesnt really understand it now, but if i showed her some buetiful purple or just really colorful buds, she mite be willing to check it out a little more, thats how it is with some people, when my mom thinks weed she thinks nasty green and skunk smell, i want her to see what genetics have done for the hobby, and that there are beutiful mj plants out there just like the ones in her garden ! I feel the need to enhazce everyones thought on MJ, most people out there dont know of the crazy colors and such real flavors you can get from a MJ plant, i tell people there are plants that taste like blue berrys and grapes and they all act like im stupid and act like its probly sprayed weed, but o well, at least i know about mother natures gift for us.. so now back to my question, what strain do u think will give me the most chances of being purple ? or does it HAVE to be in cold temps for that trait to come out, also perfer something decent for scrog

Ah you shouldn't worry about what we say or think of you. Internet forums are filled with a bunch of know-it-alls that get off on correcting people(myself included)lol. By the way I have a good idea from the description you gave where your from. I have an abquaintance that goes up there to buy from Jay Z sometimes and always comes back with "purple haze" he paid 600 for. He took some of the airy less resinous but of the absolute highest quality sativa thinking it wasn't as good up there to try and sell because prices down here are so much better. Nobody liked it until Jay Z (jerk) said it was great then everybody in that circle liked it. You're right the herb buying population as a whole isn't capable of judging quality and only falls for whatever hype they're fed. Anyway as far as consistently purple indoor feminized varieties with purple calyxes you don't have a whole lot to choose from. I think blueberry or if you can find it feminized blue moonshine either of those has excellent bag appeal with stickiness density pungency and color.

yea you know where im at, used to pickup from jay ? must have been a min ago, rite now only bigdawg still pumpin is really cam ,a few people i know still cop weight from him. but jay still sellin zips ?, your friend must be good friends with him, but on that note jay shouldnt b chargin him billage like that . o man if only everyone who sold weed was a pothead. the world would be such a better place (atleast for us potheads)

Hey, Guido. Best of luck in showing your mom your horticultural side. It sounds like she might come around. I'll also keep my eye peeled for purple strains. Surely there is one out there that will give lots of bag appeal.

I wanted to jump in and echo the Matchbox grower's sentiment. I'm like Guido in that I've never really known what type weed I've been smoking. It has had those local names -- Hall County Hatchett Weed, Pine Mountain Mindfuck, Bubba's Stinky Weed... who knows what you get when you buy dope from one of those sumbitches from 'Deliverance.' I never got definitive answers when I dared ask, "What kind of high does it give you? Where was it grown? What strain is it?" Who knew. Nowdays, It's nice to know what you are smoking and what are the characteristics of the buzz.

I'm returning to growing after a 15-year hiatus from smoking it and growing it. At least nowdays, I will be able to smoke some of the 'good' stuff. I'm also finding growers in the area who are producing good stuff too. That opens the 'clone trading' possibilities. In the last month, I have gotten a chance to smoke some 'Misty' and also a bowlful of White Widow. Wow. The WW was the 'best' stone I've had in years.
I have smoked a shitload of schwag in my time, and now I want to move up to Budsville where it's sticky and stanky all the time.

Any weed you grow will look good, f ck that. If you sell which I dont,the only thing that keeps them coming back is Knockdown drag them out shit. I would grow for potency and not purple,Shit my Ak48 is as potent as any and you never know

jepa wrecked you cant see some purple this pheno purples up @ 65 -70 days of 12/12 and some a bit earlier a like @50 .... i went with the green-yellow pheno of Blockhead as i have many strains which go purp due to genetic like Ghaze , Venomberry ,VeryCherryBerry and some others ....
