help me outfit my Growlab 60!!

Hey guys i bought my growlab 60 last week, the measurements are 2' x 2' x 5'3.

Right now i have a 150watt hps in there hanging, with a small fan in the bottom moving the air around. I need to get an exhuast fan and a carbon scrubber.

Will this fan work well? And what about this carbon scrubber (my goal is to be pretty much smell proof)

Also would i put the carbon filter inside or outside? And is that carbon filter big enough?

And will i need anything else to make sure the ventilation is chill? right now its like 90 degrees in there

Just get a small filter and inline fan(4' or 6' inch)..there are cheap combo packs on ebay! The carbon scrub works best inside the tent catching all the odors in the carbon and pushing it out of the tent through the fan!(It will work outside the tent as well)

I'd recommend a 4 or 5" High Output Can Fan, and a Can 9000 filter. Can products are usually relatively inexpensive, depending on where you live, and they're very reliable. Any reliable and reasonably priced setup of a similar size will do as well.

By the way, what is your intake air temperature?

The problem with the fan in the picture is that it is not designed to operate under static pressure, it's designed to boost airflow in HVAC circuits that already have more powerful fans. Centrifugal blowers (Can, Fantech, Vortex, etc.) are designed to operate under relatively large amounts of static pressure (caused by ducting, bends, carbon filters, etc.).

Regarding Cool-Tubes, I would recommend running without an A/C reflector, and seeing what your temps are. An A/C reflector will add a lot of ducting to try and cram in a 2x2x5 tent, and add a lot more static pressure to your exhaust hvac circuit, unless you also buy another fan and run a separate hvac circuit for your light.

is the combo i just posted in my last thread not the same type of fan made by CAN but just alot cheaper? Also thank you very much your post is very informative and i appreciate your help. I wont be buying an air cooled reflector but could you recommend a combo to me (perhaps a link) because all of the CAN fans im looking at are 180 dollars and thats not even including a carbon filter.

The pic you posted is better know as a booster fan. It's purpose is to aid your real fan over long runs. Alone, they're pretty useless.

okay guys i really appreciate all the comments. So i buy the 4" package.
How would i hook this up?

Would i take 4" ducting and insert it into the ports so that its coming barely out of the inside top of the grow lab ( and continues outside) and then tighten it by the 5" port drawstrings? From there i would connect the Fan and then connect the carbon scrubber to the fan? thanks!

kinda like this

green color- carbon scrubber
red color - ducting
yellow - hps
blue color - can fan

Yeah, that will be fine. Just remember to install a prefilter on the inside of your carbon filter since you are pushing air through it. They generally come with a prefilter on the outside, but you can remove it and cut it to fit the inside.

no one brought it so i thought i would

IMO i would get a speed controller to limit the fan noise and save electricity..
I just saw that gro lab in person ..VERY nice unit well made..the store owner said he would run a 600..hps in it OMG

I just picked up the knock
off on ebay and can see the difrrence , ,,

yours is nice if ya can afford it

store owner also likes to sell exspencive things.

250 will do a 2x2 easy.

ill 2nd a speed controller, get a largerfan and dim it down, still have very good airflow and the fan will be quieter.

A 600w HPS in a 2' x 2' area.....I'n calling B.S. on that hydro store employee/owner.....just trying to make more money :noway:

A 250-400w HPS is all that would be needed.

You might want to get intough with that hydro shop and ask them what the airflow is after the carbon filter has been attached.IME when trying to ventilate the grow area while keeping temps down you're going to want more CFM then you would need just to ventilate the area.

I like Can Fan and Filters because they tell you what your expected airflow will be with certain ca fans matched to certain can filters.

With a 6"HO can fan that is rated 392cfm @ 0"wg/static pressure matched to a Can 55 filter (filter adds .75"wg/static pressure) your expected airflow should be about 300cfm.

I use a 4" Eco Plus inline centrifugal that is rated 170cfm....no carbon filter just ducting from my a/c hood/Fresh air comes through the passive intakes, over the plants through the hood,to the fan and out of the grow cab.If I stuck a carbon filter on there it would drop my airflow so much that I wouldn't be able to keep the grow cool.So what could I do,I could buy or build a larger carbon filter, but each filter has a minimum fan power rating and a maximum for scrubbing,or exhuasting.Scrubbing means the filter is in the grow, exhuasting as you guessed it means outside the grow area.
