Help me identify a part for my DIY carbon filter

I'm building a pc grow box following Dr.Zoidberg's thread.

Can someone help me identify what he calls 'door ducting' in this post?
It's the brown stuff in these images

well if you are about to make it why not just use some fan aluminium screen at the edge for replacement of carbon think you want empty chamber in middle for airflow.

you can use 3 fans and for middle empty chamber just cut the fan out of middle.
make another chamber for carbon this way design will be: carbon chamber/ empty chamber outtake fan all three put together with zip ties for carbon replace just unscrew the fan aluminium screen..
whole thing will be placed permanently in place using aluminium tape so it will be airtight

I am using it and it works great
my old version where used some window netting it was improved by using one fan screen so now its carbon replaceable
check my album for the idea:
https://www.icmag.com/ic/album.php?albumid=69247

instead of that netting you can use two fan screens that will hold the carbon unscrew one at the outer edge for replacement of carbon while the whole thing is permanently placed there no need to remove it and airtight it again etc.

fan screens im using now that hold the carbon:

its called weather seals, go pick it up at Home Depot, they are by the door seals, garage door seals...Remember, weather seal

i wouldnt recomment this design if you have the room for a can shape, 200x more surface area

doams, then you have the venturi?? effect where the airflow stops because its hitting a large 'room' shapes really matter when airflow is concerned

who dat is

:yeahthats

Also called door weatherstripping. You are going to want to get the peel and stick kind that comes in a flat roll like a big spiral. That looks to be either the low density or medium density stuff. Don't get anything firmer than the medium density.

well what I know is when carbon is in the middle that fan which blows directly at carbon is doing the opposite air is reflected off carbon wall back into grow space..
I was using that design and it was a fail /not working at all like it was not even there/
I would be better off by sealing the whole case with ductape which I did at times..
it helped to tame the smells 100% better than "that thing" lol.

You can buy a 4" pvc "closet flange" (this is the piece that the wax ring for your toilet sets on) to build the filter with and skip the dual fans. There are instructions around here somewhere on it, I've built 3 so far, all work very well.

The recycled root barrier fabric is cheap at lowes and can be doubled up, pulled tight and works as a good screen to hold the carbon back.

BTW, if you are pulling through the filter, 2" carbon layer should be maintained. If you are blowing through, increase to 2.5-3" layer. Those closet flanges are 2" tall

That sounds very interesting, could you give me a link? I can't seem to find anything.

Also what did you replace the dual fans with?

cant seem to find that link either, but here is how mine was built, well pics I still could grab easily

I had an old perforated diffuser that ended up being the final cover for the filter.

Screen door screening before that on both ends and fill it tight with carbon, packing with a hammer if necessary.

Final 2 pics are end product, installed

Instead of 2 fans, only one is used and its used to pull through the filter at 7vdc.

There is this gasket stuff, called Butyl gasket, that makes a very solid, vibration reducing, seal between the fan and the filter and the filter and the cabinet. Its that "grey" looking ring visible under the white screen.

i build me one of those and checked, yes and no, it goes push against it(obvious) but it goes push some air tru, the design is just shit

yep
:D

e: but I believe it would work very very good "if" theres an empty chamber before and after carbon chamber.
right
