Try using silver tape or foil tape if you have any to seal it first, then use the silicone.Silver tape should be kept on hand it comes in so handy for so many things duct tape just cant compare to it.It probably wont stop the flow completely, but good enough to silicone it

plumbers epoxy putty works great. and hardens fast.

Guess where you find it...yep in the plumbing section.

It usually comes in a long plastic tube with a cap, you take it out and cut off what you need, then you have to mix the chunk you cut off with your hands , thin plastic gloves are nice...it will get warm as you mix it together, its like hard play-doo.

when you have the epoxy mixed good pack it around the leak, you have about 10 to 15 minutes to do the job from the time you start mixing it.

if you apply this to a smooth surface like a plastic bucket, try to roughen up its surface first ,it gives the epoxy something to "grab to"

If its a crack in something like plastic, try to scrape a groove into the crack , then pack the putyy into that.

Ive used this stuff for many years.

where abouts in the system do you have the leak?

you could repair with some flexible hose and some jubilee clips or use that plumbers tape if the leak is at a joint/threads.
