HELP ICMAG --- Resizing Your Pics

jello all, i had been meaning to get to this, and now that the membership is exploding, seems like an important time to post, as bandwidth is going to become a concern i'm sure.

so here it is, help Gypsy and ICmag keep this site smooth and online by resizing your pics to under 300kb. mine are usually around 75-150kb, but of course those real beautiful budshots need ta show the trichs shimmerin so i feel ya if it needs to be a tad bigger for clarity, sometimes.

Use this Multiple Image Resizing Tool to resize a whole bunch of pics you took all at once. i've been using this for a long time and would be lost without it, so much easier than resizing every single pic in photoshop or whatever. here's a screenshot

as ya see, just select the picture or folder of pictures, select where ya went em ta end up, select a size (800 x 600 or even 640 x 480 if ya want) and select a compression rate 50-80%. test it out see what settings ya like most.

we just don't want this place to be slowvergrow, saving the server from showing massively sized pictures helps way more than you know! and it gives you space to be able to put more pictures in your gallery!

I am going to try this program. I will let you know how eazy it is to work with, as I have an old cp and all the photo programs I have now are not to user friendly

it's perfect for you then soulmate, as it doesn't need to install, just save and use it, and it's under 1mb. enjoy.

hey King Ralph try this program http://www.irfanview.com/main_download_engl.htm its called irfanview and it will resize pics for you. It works well for me ! hope it does for you

thanks for the program blowd, but that resizes only one at a time, though that slideshow/converter has its uses. MIRT is mainly for resizing a bunch of pics all at once (though it can do one at a time), thus saving tons of time and generally being hassle-free and not having to install anything on a system. you know how we can't help but take a buncha pics that program ya linked wants to install a google product also, i hope it didn't just put other adware on my comp

btw the program i directly linked to a download button has no ad/spyware at all and is of course virus-free.

You're quite right, pic file size should be controlled or this can become slower on the long run - i'm here talking but most of my pics are all high rez >500kb...

MIRT is completely ad/spyware free, free to use and installs nothing.

unlike BlowD's program link which i highly suggest people do NOT use (no offense man, thanks for tryin ta help) that installs a shareware program that includes adware such as google desktop (refer to IMBoggled's recent post about the security implications of google's intrusive program).

so fear not with MIRT, just resize away!

Might be an idea not to keep 1000's of pics in our galleries too... Keep it fresh... :wink:

wow it took me over a year to fill up only 23mb. note to self: flower more.
