Are there tiny dots on the leaves?Have you checked with a scope to confirm spidermites? Its just that I've seen bad infestations but never seen them boogying across the surface of the soil before.Anyway,a 5 dollar hot shot or spectracide no pest strip always takes care of my problems

If you can see them running across the soil, they are not spider mites. You can try the NPS, or you could use neem oil or an insectiside like Seven......

If they're so bad you can see them dunk the whole container and plant under water. Afterward neem oil them every 2 or 3 days for a couple of weeks.

Neem is great. Definitely use it in your mix. But also mix in something that will kill them on contact. I use Safers Insecticidal Soap. I bought the concentrate of both safers and neem and it has the knock out punch and long term protection.

Always remember, use up to 3 different types of insecticides as to avoid the insects building a tolerance (where the ones that survive the neem/insecticidal soap survive and reproduce and the offspring will also survive)

bury them in sand!

those buggers won't be able to get through,

then water the hell out of it.

I had a fungus knat infestation earlier this year on my strawberries, and the ole' wet n' sandy shows them who's boss.

The first thing I'd do is identify the pest,if its a pest at all..No use nukin a plant for nothing lol

I've had bugs running through my soil but they were kinda brownish color and big enough for the human eye to see but there extremely fast....I recommend on NEEM OIL...before flower like the babbas did

I agree wit everybody else...I can almost bet it's not mites, but fungus knats!! Spider mites hang out on the under side of the leaves and you won't mistaken em, because you'll see webs all over the plant depending on the infestation!! First sign of a mite is li l dots on the leaves...I'de tag em wit neem oil or nematodes!!

Hey soquick!Yea if you get to a point of webbing ever in your lifetime, you werent PAYING ATTENTION LOL.Identify at first "dottage",confirm eggs/mites on underside of dotted leaf, and hang a no pest strip.Dichlorvous has been no minor player in my success during a dozen or so harvests, watch for spidermites in the spring and fall.
