help a Lst noobie please

i have a few questions as i am attempting Lst for the first time, i pretty much understand the concept from alot of good info recieved here on the forum, thanks PureKnowledge and all the rest of u guys.my plants/garden is usualy like this these were about 35 days into 12/12 when i took the pics



i would love to have the beatiful bushes i see u guys having with the multiple tops yum yum yum these are my babies 1 day out of the e z clone










my questions are how long should i leave them alone before i start initial training i know i should leave them be for a few but how long? also how will i know when they are ready to start playing with?and any good triks of the trade i would like all the info you geniuses can provide thankyou . p.s this website inspires the s**t out of me!!!!!!

I usually wait until they are at least 2 ft tall. I then start pulling them over slowly.....

hey I let my babbies grow to about 8inches and then I fimmed, (which is a type of topping them) so i could try and get muilty tops... I took some pics of mine to kind of show you what im doing. but started LSTing about 4 days ago and I have mroe undergrowth then I have ever had , but I have a space issue and i cant let mine get huge.

take a plant



tie the top down. ( i just have the string going through the pot.) and I tied the bottom of the stem as an anchor(not necessary)





Then the side branches start poking out.


And it turns into these huge bushes

yeah man, i generally start lst two weeks from seed,about six, seven inches tall. or about a week and a half after ive transplanted a clone from the bubbler....

i did my lst about 3 weeks into veg and it worked wonderful, def. doing it to all my plants next grow, just so many more bud sites!! a lot better IMHO than 1 big cola

If you want yeilds, you had better LST.

You could also "super crop". Thats what I do now, well that and if I need to i will use string, or twist tie. Super cropping is when you bend the top down just like lst but you are actually almost breaking the stem. The point is to get the top of the plant below the other side branches and thus tricking it to think that the other branches are the top. THis has something to do with auxins...

So i just take the stem and squeeze it and roll it slightly with my fingers, and then bend it down below the other branches. Then the other branches grow tall and the top you bent down will grow back into position in about a day

See how there is a bend with a bump in this pic? thats what happens when super cropped, the place you "break" so that it flops over will grow back much stronger than if left alone.

as soon as you can lst with out harming the plant you should. think of them like magic bonsai trees.

I really didnt lst properly untill I learned you must tie the plant down so all potential bud sites are equal height. Once this is done the plant no longer knows which is the biggest Cola. A plant wants the Auxins to go to all lower branches so that the biggest will get huge and have more chance of getting polinated. Now that all bud sites are equal it will no longer send out the auxins to bud sites it determines secoundary. THEN the plant starts to RAGE, im not kidding. Every 3 or 4 days you will need to readajust your bud sites so that they remain equal and you will be rewarded for this!
