help a harvest soon.. ballast shit the bed.

ok guys. I have 2 flower rooms running right now.. and I have some nice plants 2 weeks away from harvesting... and woke up this am and got to the place..and I show up 10 mins before the lights go on.. I wait. the big room.. up. and going everythings fine.. the small room with a single 1000w.. that I use to quarantine new strains so I don't get a hermi and ruin my harvest. .. well that 1000w ballast its a switchable mh/hps was humming.. but no light.. so I switched to MH bulb.. to see if it mite be the ignitor. and the mh bulb didn't light up either.. so I tried checking the switch.. back and forth on mh / hps.. and nothing.. so i tried diff ballast.. and it lights up .. so i checked everything

1.. so we have 1000w switchable. buzzing.. but no light on MH or HPS..

2.. i know its the ballast for sure..

3.. since it doesn't run. MH or HPS.. im thinking its just the Cap.. so im thinking ill buy cap and ignitor.. butt i don't want to spend money i don't have .. on a bunch of parts that i don't need right now. so any help would be amazing...

honestly. this harvest im running low on EVERYTHING nutes .. bulbs need to be replaced after this harvest.. i only run bulbs for 2 harvests.. and then keep as replacements if they go...

but like so really don't have the cash to be buying new shit and it not working.. so im going to grab a ballast.. tomaro wen the store is open. and then ill try to fix this ballast.. and use it for my new veg room...

Testing a capacitor with an ohm meter is pretty simple, but just tells you whether they have any capacitance.
Many digital ohm meters have a capacitance function and can directly test them.
To get a rough idea if they are working (not open or shorted), connect your ohmeter leads to the capacitor.
You should be able to watch it charge up - the meter will increment up to infinity.
This will take several seconds. If it doesn't build at all, it is open, and if it immediately reads full continuity, it is shorted.
To start the test over, short a screwdriver across the leads to discharge the cap and start again.


you said you didn't want to but use a cap from a working ballast and you'll know for sure

the main issue is.. my other ballasts have the warranty stickers still on them.. and the others have warranties still.. I been manually flipping my other ballast from flower room to run my other flower room that the ballast shit the bed on...

basicly. works been slow. so I haven't been able to get extra money after bills n shit.. so it sucks to have this happen now.. if this would of happened after the harvest.. I was ready to put away a half pound.. to pay for equipment.. mainly. I need a Environmental controller.. another can fan.. 3-4 carbon filters. and I think I may start buying 600w lights.. im a test a room 2 600s. vs 1 1000w. and see which does better.. and keep going with those..

but as of now. im manually flipping which sucks . but I been thinking abuot buying or making a flip box.. to double up my flower space and not have to buy more ballasts until after the first double harvest.

basicly. money is a huge issue. cause I really don't like to sell buds.. I rather smoke all my buds.. I cannot stand wen I sell some.. and then run out early. an have to buy crap bud.. for same price I give mine away for. GAY..

the orange wire heading from were I plug my 120v wire into from the transformer to the connector had fried.. im guessing it fried and fucked up the ballast.. im just hoping a new cap and ignitor will do the trick . kuz I was going to buy 1000w for my veg room. but now that it broke. ill buy it for flower. n try to fix this one.
