Hello ALL! Questions! PICS!

Hello all...I am beginning this thread to open discussion on pruning (although it is a common and already discussed subject.) I get confused about pruning and when it is appropriate. I know you are only supposed to take yellow and dead foliage off after the flowering phase has started. I have heard that you should make at most 3 sets of bends or cuts to a plant. I am in the middle of flowering my ICE (below). I have the very dense bush like part at the bottome due to the vegging phase, but of course I switch to 12/12 with an hps and there is that 2-3 week stretching period. Anyway, I am wondering if I should cut off most of the leaves on the bottom that are getting a fraction of the light that the tops are getting to help promote stronger tops. Keep in mind that I have LST'd so I am not longer dealing with a single cola plant. Any advice will help...and ill get the finished product posted soon...

hey philly green imo i wudnt take anything off yr plant, and i mean no disrespect here, yr plants not very big so yr guna get lite down there, u've also got side lighting so u cud get good quality smoke fron the bottom to the top.

i grow mine 40-50" tall and i hav no side lighting but the flowers on the bottom finish like nuggets.

with the rite nutes and twinkly bits (aditives and boosters) u shud get good quality herb all over.

good luck

I'm only on my 3rd grow, but i've never pruned save removing dead material from the plant. I just dont see how removing some of the plants powerplants (leaves) can help?

pruning is a very tricky thing, if you feel you would like to expose more light to the bottom. it doesnt have to be pruning, i.e. low stress training, very benifical for you and your plant.

When you prune a plant, the leaves shouldnt be touched if possible, the idea is to remove a few of the bottom branches that would produce popcorn in the hopes of producing more bud up top.You cant remove a branch without removing the leaves but the larger fans shouldnt be touched
